Well, let me tell ya ’bout these here China tarot cards. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I seen a thing or two, and I can tell ya what I know.
First off, they ain’t like them regular playin’ cards we use for poker. These here cards, they got pictures on ’em, all fancy and whatnot. Some fellers say they can tell your future with ’em, but I ain’t so sure about that. Seems like a load of hogwash to me, but hey, to each their own, I always say.
Now, from what I hear, these China tarot cards, some of ’em were made a long time ago by a feller named Jui Guoliang. He was a Chinese fella, real good at paintin’, used ink and watercolor, just like them old-timey artists. He painted all sorts of pictures, like them legends and stories they tell over in China. You know, dragons and gods and all that kinda stuff. Sounds kinda like them fairy tales my grandma used to tell me, only these here pictures are on cards.
- They got pictures of all sorts of things, like emperors and warriors, and even just plain folks doin’ everyday stuff.
- And each card, it means somethin’ different, they say. Like, one card might mean you gonna have good luck, and another might mean you gonna have a hard time.
- It’s all a bit confusing if you ask me, but some folks swear by it.
I seen some of these cards, and they sure are pretty. Real colorful and detailed. They say the pictures are based on old Chinese stories and ideas, like that Dao De Jing and Yijing stuff. Don’t ask me what that means, ’cause I ain’t got a clue. Sounds like somethin’ them smart city folks would talk about.
Now, some folks use these China tarot cards for tellin’ fortunes. They say you can shuffle the cards and pick three, and them three cards will tell ya ’bout your past, your present, and your future. Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, but like I said, some folks believe in it. I reckon it’s like readin’ tea leaves or lookin’ at the stars, just another way folks try to make sense of things.
But where did these cards come from, you ask? Well, I heard tell that the oldest ones weren’t even from China! They were made way over in Italy, hundreds of years ago. And they weren’t even for tellin’ fortunes at first, just for playin’ games. But then folks started noticin’ that the pictures on the cards could mean somethin’ more. They saw all sorts of symbols and stories in ’em, and that’s how they started usin’ ’em for tellin’ the future.

And from Italy, these cards spread all over Europe, and eventually, they made their way to China, too. And that’s where we get these China tarot cards, with their own special Chinese pictures and meanings. They use pictures like the emperor card which they say it means fairness. I heard there is even a card called Justice card, it means things going well for ya in the eyes of the law.
I reckon these China tarot cards are just another way folks try to understand the world around ’em. Whether it’s real or not, well, that’s up to you to decide. Me, I’m just a simple woman, I don’t need no cards to tell me what’s what. But I can appreciate a pretty picture when I see one, and these China tarot cards, they sure are somethin’ to look at.
So, that’s the long and short of it. That’s what I know ’bout these here China tarot cards. Take it or leave it, that’s up to you. But I hope I gave ya somethin’ to think about. And if you ever come across a deck of these cards, take a look. You might just see somethin’ interestin’, even if you don’t believe in all that fortune-tellin’ stuff.
