Feng Shui Foo Dogs: Choosing the Right Size and Material

Alright, let’s talk about these Feng Shui Foo Dogs, or whatever them fancy folks call ’em. I just call ’em the lion dogs, you know? Seen ’em ’round, them stone critters sittin’ by the door.

Now, they say these things ain’t just for show. They’re supposed to, like, keep bad stuff out and bring in the good. Somethin’ ’bout “energy,” they say. Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, but hey, if it works, it works, right? Folks been usin’ ’em for ages, so maybe there’s somethin’ to it.

So, you wanna get yourself some of these lion dogs, huh? Well, first off, you gotta get two. Yep, a boy and a girl. Can’t just have one, that’s like havin’ a shoe with no match, makes no sense. And you gotta put ’em in the right spot, too. They gotta be lookin’ outwards, see? Like they’re keepin’ an eye on things, watchin’ out for trouble. Don’t want ’em starin’ at your walls, that ain’t gonna do nobody no good.

And get this, the boy goes on the right side, and the girl goes on the left. How do you tell ’em apart? Well, the boy usually has a ball under his paw, and the girl has a little cub. Sometimes they look the same, then I guess you just gotta take a guess, ain’t no big deal. Just make sure they ain’t facin’ each other. That’s fightin’ energy, we don’t need that in the house. Always outwards, always protectin’.

Now, they come in all sorts of colors and sizes. You got your gold ones, they’re supposed to be for money and power. Then you got them fancy porcelain ones, all colorful and pretty. Me? I like the plain stone ones. Sturdy, you know? Like they can really take a punch. But hey, you get what you like. It’s your house, your lion dogs.

  • Color: Gold for wealth, multi-color for peace.
  • Size: Big or small, doesn’t matter too much, just make sure they fit your space.
  • Material: Stone, metal, porcelain… whatever tickles your fancy.

Some folks even get these lion dogs tattooed on ’em. Said it brings ’em peace and calmness. I ain’t one for tattoos myself, needles ain’t my thing. But if it makes ’em feel better, more power to ’em.

So, where do you put these things? Well, like I said, by the door is the main spot. Front door, back door, whatever door you want to protect. But you can also put ’em in your office, or even in your garden. Just think about where you need some extra protection, some extra good vibes, and stick ’em there. I know some folks think this is just for rich people. City-folk stuff. But let me tell ya, we all can use protection. No matter if you live in a fancy house or a small shack like me. Ain’t no shame in wanting a bit of good luck and peace of mind.

Now, some folks get all fancy about it, talkin’ ’bout “chi” and “harmony” and all that. Me? I just figure if it makes my place feel safer, that’s good enough for me. It’s like havin’ a guard dog, but without all the barkin’ and the mess. And they look kinda cute, too, sittin’ there all proud and watchful. Just makes the place feel a bit more… complete, you know?

Placement is key, remember that. Outwards, boy on the right, girl on the left. That’s the main thing. Don’t overthink it too much. It ain’t rocket science. It’s about feelin’ safe and protected, and if these lion dogs can help with that, then I say go for it. And don’t worry too much if you don’t have it exactly perfect. It’s the thought that counts, ain’t it?

So, there you have it. My take on them Feng Shui Foo Dogs. Maybe it’s all just a bunch of old wives’ tales, maybe it’s not. But hey, what’s the harm in tryin’? Worst case scenario, you got some nice decorations by your door. Best case scenario, you got yourself some extra protection and good luck. And in this world, we could all use a little bit of that, don’t you think? Just remember to keep ‘em clean! A dirty lion dog ain’t protectin’ nothin’ but dust bunnies.

And that’s all I gotta say about that. Now, go get yourself some lion dogs and see if they don’t make your place a little bit brighter.
