So, I finally decided to get my hands on a tarot deck and a book to learn more about it. I’ve always been curious, you know? So, let’s see what I did.
Getting Started
First things first, I ordered a beginner’s deck and a guidebook online. Nothing fancy, just something simple to get me started. When it arrived, I was pretty stoked. I opened the package and there it was – a shiny new deck of cards and a pretty thick book.
Diving into the Book
I decided to start with the book. I figured I should probably learn something before I started messing around with the cards. I flipped through the pages, and there was a lot of stuff about the history of tarot, the different suits, and the meanings of each card. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest.
- Major Arcana: These are the big-deal cards, like The Fool, The Lovers, and Death. The book explained how they represent major life lessons and themes.
- Minor Arcana: These are more like everyday stuff. There are four suits: Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. Each suit has cards numbered from Ace to 10, plus four court cards (Page, Knight, Queen, King).
It is a lot of information, but I tried to learn Major Arcana first.
Playing with the Cards
After reading a bit,I want to try cards.
I shuffled the deck, trying to remember how the book said to do it. Then, I laid out a simple three-card spread – past, present, and future. I flipped the cards over one by one and tried to interpret them based on what I’d read.
It’s fun,but I still need to learn how to explain the card.
First Impressions
Honestly, it was a bit confusing at first. Trying to connect the card meanings to my actual life was tricky. But it was also kind of fun, like solving a little puzzle. I realized this is going to take some time and practice. It’s not something you learn overnight.
I plan to keep practicing and reading more. Maybe I’ll try a different spread next time, or focus on learning the meanings of a few cards at a time. It’s a journey, and I’m just at the beginning.
