What is the sacred rules of tarot and how to use them?

Okay, so I’ve been getting really into Tarot lately. It’s not just about predicting the future, you know? It feels more like… a way to understand myself and what’s going on around me. But I kept hearing about these “sacred rules” and I was like, “Wait, what? Are there rules?” So, I dug in.

My Deep Dive into Tarot “Rules”

First, I scrolled through tons of websites and forums. Man, there’s a lot of info out there! Some people were super strict about how you should handle the cards, how you should shuffle, even who you should read for. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest.

Then I started watching some YouTube videos of experienced readers. I noticed that everyone seemed to have their own way of doing things. Some were very formal, others were super casual. Some used elaborate spreads, others just pulled a few cards.

I decided to try a few different approaches myself. I experimented with shuffling the deck in various ways – the classic riffle shuffle, overhand shuffle, even just spreading them out and mixing them around. I paid attention to how each method felt. Did one feel more “right” than others?

I also tried reading for myself, then for a close friend who was curious. I noticed that reading for someone else felt very different. It was less about my own internal stuff and more about connecting with their energy and situation.

I kept a journal of all my readings. I wrote down the questions I asked, the cards I pulled, and my initial interpretations. Then I’d go back later and see how things played out. This was super helpful in understanding the cards’ meanings and how they related to real-life events. I found it‘s a great learning tool.

What I Figured Out

So, after all this experimenting, here’s what I think about the “sacred rules” of Tarot:

  • Respect the Cards: This isn’t about treating them like fragile objects (though I do keep mine in a nice pouch). It’s more about approaching them with intention and recognizing that they’re a tool for insight.
  • Find Your Own Ritual: There’s no one “right” way to shuffle, cut the deck, or lay out the cards. Experiment and find what feels comfortable and meaningful to you. I like to shuffle the cards 7 times, it is my habit.
  • Trust Your Intuition: The card meanings are important, but your gut feeling about a card is just as crucial. Pay attention to what pops into your head when you see a particular card.
  • It’s a Conversation: Tarot isn’t about getting definitive answers. It’s about exploring possibilities and gaining a deeper understanding of a situation.
  • Practice, Practice, Practice: The more you work with the cards, the more comfortable and confident you’ll become.
  • Keep good record:It’s so important to keep good record of your practice, that’s the only way to level up.

Ultimately, I realized that the “sacred rules” aren’t about strict regulations. They’re more like guidelines to help you connect with the cards and your own intuition. It’s a personal journey, and the most important thing is to find what works for you.
