Tarot Single Card Draw: Ask a Question, Get Answer

Okay, so today I’m gonna walk you through my little tarot single card draw experiment. I’ve been messing around with tarot for a while, nothing too serious, mostly just for fun and a bit of self-reflection. I figured, why not document my process and share it?

First things first: Preparation. I grabbed my Rider-Waite deck – it’s a classic and I know it pretty well. Then, I found a quiet spot in my apartment where I wouldn’t be disturbed. I lit a candle (a random scented one, nothing fancy) and took a few deep breaths to clear my head. Gotta try to be in the right headspace, you know?

Next up: Formulating the Question. This is actually the trickiest part, at least for me. You gotta be specific, but not too specific. I wanted some general guidance for the week ahead, so I went with: “What energy should I focus on this week?” Simple enough, right?

The Shuffle. I shuffled the cards, thinking about my question as I did. I probably shuffled for a good minute or two – until it felt right. Some people have fancy shuffling techniques, I just kinda do what feels natural.

The Draw. I fanned the cards out face down and ran my hand over them for a second. Then, I picked one. Didn’t overthink it, just went with my gut feeling. The card I drew was… (drumroll please) … the Queen of Pentacles.

Interpretation Time! Okay, so the Queen of Pentacles is all about nurturing, abundance, and practicality. She’s grounded and responsible, but also caring and generous. So, for me, this suggests that I should focus on taking care of myself and the things that matter to me this week. Maybe spend some time on self-care, get my finances in order, or focus on my home and family. It also tells me to be generous and share my resources with others.

  • What I did specifically:
    • I booked a massage for later in the week.
    • I spent an hour creating a budget.
    • I planned a dinner with my family.

Final Thoughts. I know tarot isn’t for everyone, and I’m not saying it’s some magical fortune-telling device. But I find it to be a helpful tool for self-reflection and getting a different perspective on things. Drawing a single card each week can be a quick and easy way to set an intention and focus my energy.

Did it work? Well, the massage was definitely great! And getting my finances in order made me feel more in control. As for the dinner, it was nice, but my little brother decided to bring up politics, so… you win some, you lose some, right?
