How to easily understand the tarot lady meaning, even if you are totally new to reading tarot cards.

My Journey with the Tarot Ladies

Alright, so someone asked me the other day, “What’s the meaning of the Tarot Lady?” And honestly, it got me thinking back to when I first started fiddling with these cards. It wasn’t straightforward, let me tell you. There isn’t just one “Tarot Lady.”

First thing I did was pull out my old Rider-Waite deck. I just spread out some of the major cards, looking for the obvious female figures. Two popped out right away, the ones people usually mean, I guess.

  • The High Priestess
  • The Empress

So, I started there. Just looking at them, you know? Trying to get a feel for it myself before diving into books.

Figuring Out the High Priestess

I remember looking at the High Priestess card first. She’s all covered up in those blue robes, sitting super still between those pillars. Very serious vibe. Didn’t feel very chatty, if you know what I mean. I spent a good few evenings just looking at that card, shuffling, pulling it again. It felt like secrets, intuition, that gut feeling you get sometimes. Not something you can easily explain, more like something you just know inside. It wasn’t about action; it felt more about listening, being quiet. I realised this ‘lady’ was about the inner world, the stuff you don’t always show.

Getting to Know the Empress

Then I shifted my focus to the Empress. Totally different energy, right off the bat. She’s sitting there on a comfy throne, looks like she’s maybe outside, lots of nature symbols around her. Wheat, pomegranates, that sort of thing. She felt warm, nurturing. Like a mother figure, maybe, but also just… abundant? Creative? Comfortable. This one felt more grounded, more about the physical world, about creating things, enjoying life, taking care of stuff. It felt more outward, more expressive than the High Priestess.

Putting it Together (Sort Of)

So, after spending time with both, I figured the whole “Tarot Lady meaning” thing depends entirely on which card actually shows up in a reading, and where. There’s no single answer. One feels like inner wisdom, the other feels like outward creation and care.

A quick side note: I also learned pretty fast, mostly by making the mistake, not to mess with the cards if I was feeling grumpy or stressed out. Found some advice online later saying the same thing, like “don’t use cards in anger”. Yeah, tried reading when I was ticked off about a bill once. Total mess. The cards felt confusing, almost hostile. It just doesn’t work right if your head’s not clear. Stick to doing it when you’re calm.

Anyway, that’s my practical take. Getting the “meaning” wasn’t about finding one definition. It was about sitting with the cards, especially those main female figures like the Priestess and Empress, and just getting familiar with the feel of them. It takes practice, just looking and thinking about what they stir up for you personally. Still figuring things out as I go, really.
