Okay, so yesterday was kinda wild, right? I kept seeing 1171 everywhere. On the clock, on receipts, even the house number of a place I was driving past. It was getting kinda creepy, so I figured I’d look it up. Turns out, it’s an “angel number”.
I’m not usually one for all that woo-woo stuff, but I was curious. The internet said it was a message about new beginnings, staying positive, and focusing on my goals. Basically, a cosmic pep talk. Sounded good to me, I could use a little encouragement these days.
So, I decided to take it as a sign and actually do something about my goals. For ages I’ve been saying I want to learn how to bake sourdough bread. Like, really learn it. Not just follow a recipe from a website, but understand the science, the process, the whole shebang.
First thing I did was dig out that sourdough starter kit I bought like, six months ago. It was buried in the back of the cupboard, still in its box. Felt kinda guilty about that.
Next, I read all the instructions. Twice. Seriously, sourdough is no joke. There’s a lot of waiting, feeding, and hoping involved.
Then, I fed the starter. It was a bit sluggish, probably because it had been neglected for so long. But I gave it some fresh flour and water and hoped for the best. Over the next 24 hours, I watched that little jar like a hawk. It started to bubble and grow! Success! Maybe this angel number thing was onto something.
Today, I actually baked the bread. I followed the recipe meticulously. Measured everything perfectly, kneaded the dough with (relative) expertise, and let it rise for what felt like forever.
The hardest part was the waiting. Seriously, sourdough is a test of patience. But eventually, it was time to pop it in the oven.
And…it worked! Well, mostly. It’s a little dense, and the crust could be crispier, but it’s actual, edible sourdough bread! And it tastes pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.
Learned a ton through all this. I mean, aside from the actual baking, I realize taking small action towards my goals is way more fulfilling than just thinking about doing it.
So, thanks, 1171. Maybe there are angels, or maybe it’s just a coincidence. But either way, I’m gonna keep chasing those new beginnings, one loaf of sourdough at a time. And next time, I’m gonna try to make the crust even crispier!
