Okay, so I decided to do a quick three-card tarot reading earlier today. Wasn’t looking for anything massive, just wanted to practice and see what came up. It’s good to keep in practice, right?
Getting Started
First thing, I grabbed my go-to deck. It’s nicely worn in, feels comfortable in my hands. I sat down at my table, cleared some space. Took a few deep breaths just to kinda center myself. Not in a fancy way, just, you know, pausing for a sec before diving in.
Shuffling and Drawing
Then I started shuffling. I always do a mix – some overhand shuffles, some riffle shuffles. Honestly, my riffle shuffle is still kinda clumsy, cards sometimes go flying a bit, but whatever, gets the job done. I shuffled until it felt ‘right’. No specific number of times, just a feeling.
When I felt ready, I cut the deck into three piles using my left hand, then put them back together in a different order. Then I fanned them out, face down.
I pulled three cards from the fan. Just went with the ones my hand was drawn to. I laid them out in a simple row, left to right. My usual spread for this is:
- Card 1: The Situation
- Card 2: The Challenge
- Card 3: The Advice
The Cards I Pulled
So, the first card, for the Situation, was the Temperance card. Okay, interesting. My first thought was about balance, mixing things, maybe trying to find some middle ground in whatever’s going on right now. Patience, basically.
The second card, the Challenge, turned out to be the Five of Pentacles. Yeah, that one usually feels a bit rough. Makes me think about feeling left out, maybe worrying about resources or security, like there isn’t enough of something. So, the challenge is this feeling of lack or hardship.
The third card, the Advice, was the Ace of Wands. I like seeing Aces. This one felt like a clear prompt: grab the new opportunity, start something, find that spark or passion. It’s like saying, ‘Okay, things might feel tough (Five of Pentacles), but the way forward is to take initiative, find some inspiration’.
Putting It Together
Looking at them together – Temperance, Five of Pentacles, Ace of Wands – my take was pretty straightforward. It felt like the reading was saying: ‘Okay, you’re trying to find balance (Temperance), but you’re feeling a bit insecure or left out (Five of Pentacles). The advice? Don’t get stuck in that feeling, look for a new spark, take some action, start something fresh (Ace of Wands)’.
Seemed like solid, practical advice, really. Find balance but don’t let worries stop you from grabbing a new beginning.
Final Thoughts
So yeah, that was my practice reading for today. I wrote down the cards and my quick thoughts in my journal. It’s always interesting to see what comes up, even just doing a simple three-card pull. Helps me connect with the cards and just, you know, reflect a little bit. Nothing earth-shattering, just a useful little exercise.
