10 Card Tarot Spread Meaning Explained: Quick Guide for Readings

Okay, so I’ve been getting really into tarot lately. And I mean, REALLY into it. I started with the basic three-card spreads, you know, past-present-future, that kind of thing. But I felt like I needed something…more. Something deeper. So, I decided to tackle the big one: the 10-card Celtic Cross spread.

First, I grabbed my favorite deck – the one with the really cool artwork. I cleansed it by smudging with some sage, because, why not? Gotta get those vibes right. Then, I shuffled, and shuffled, and shuffled some more. I wanted to make sure the cards were good and mixed up. I even did that thing where you cut the deck into three piles and put them back together. Feeling pretty official at this point.

Next, I laid out the cards one by one, following the Celtic Cross pattern. It’s a bit complicated, but basically you have:

  • Card 1: The Present – What’s going on right now.
  • Card 2: The Challenge – What’s blocking you.
  • Card 3: The Past – Stuff that’s already happened.
  • Card 4: The Future – What’s likely to happen soon.
  • Card 5: Above – Your goals or aspirations.
  • Card 6: Below – Your subconscious influences.
  • Card 7: Advice – What you should consider.
  • Card 8: External Influences – Other people, or the environment.
  • Card 9: Hopes and Fears – Pretty self-explanatory!
  • Card 10: Outcome – The final result.

I spent some Time to set this up. Because I need a big table for this spread, LOL.

So, I had all my cards laid out, and it looked…intense. Seriously, ten cards is a lot to process. I took a deep breath and started with Card 1. I flipped it over…and it was…The Lovers. Ooh la la! Okay, maybe not that kind of lovers, but it definitely pointed to some important choices I had to make.

I went through each card, one by one, and slowly started to piece together the story. It was like reading a really cryptic, symbolic book about my life. Some cards made perfect sense, others were a little confusing. The “Challenge” card was The Tower, which, yeah, felt pretty accurate considering some recent shake-ups. The “Outcome” card was surprisingly positive – The Sun. Which gave me hope!.

After staring at the cards for, like, an hour, I started to see connections. The Past card definitely influenced the Present, and the Hopes and Fears card really resonated with the Subconscious card. It was all starting to make sense, at least as much as tarot ever makes sense. It will take more time for me to understand all of it. I have to keep reading and serching.

I wrote everything down in my tarot journal – the cards I pulled, my initial interpretations, and any connections I saw. I even sketched a little diagram of the spread, because I’m a visual person.

My Big Takeaways

Honestly, the whole process was exhausting, but also really insightful. It’s not so much about predicting the future with 100% accuracy, it’s more like getting a different perspective on things. Like a cosmic therapy session. Will I do another 10-card spread anytime soon? Probably not every week, but definitely when I’m feeling lost or need some extra guidance. It’s a powerful tool, but you gotta use it responsibly! I learned a lot, So I can do it better next time.
