Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get into tarot for a while, and I finally took the plunge today. I decided to document my little adventure, calling it “33 Tarot” – just a simple name for my practice runs.
First, I grabbed a deck I’d picked up a while back. It’s a pretty standard Rider-Waite deck, nothing fancy. I spent a good few minutes just shuffling the cards, trying to get a feel for them. I’ve heard some people say you should “bond” with your deck, so I was basically just handling them, getting comfortable.
My First Reading
- Cleared my space a bit. I lit a candle – mostly for ambiance, I’ll admit.
- Focused on a simple question: “What energy should I embrace today?” I’m keeping it super basic for now.
- Drew three cards. I laid them out in a simple past-present-future spread, even though I’m not 100% sure how to interpret that yet.
The cards I got were the Knight of Swords, the Six of Cups, and the Ten of Wands. Honestly, I had to look them up.
From what I gathered, the Knight of Swords is about action and directness. The Six of Cups seemed to be about nostalgia and childhood, and the Ten of Wands is often burdens and responsiblity.
My initial, super-amateur interpretation? Maybe it means I should act boldly (Knight of Swords), to connect with the past in sometime(Six of Cups), but I’m possibly carrying too much baggage (Ten of Wands). I’m probably way off, but it’s a start!
Next Step
I wrote down the cards and my initial thoughts in a little notebook. I figure keeping track of my readings will help me learn. I also plan to look up some more interpretations of those cards and see what other people say. It’s all pretty confusing, but it was actually kind of fun! I’m definitely going to keep practicing and see where this “33 Tarot” journey takes me.
