Well, I’ll tell ya, this here number 20 in the Bible, it ain’t just some number, ya know? It pops up all over the place, and it’s got folks thinkin’ it means somethin’ special. Some say it’s ’bout waitin’, others say it’s ’bout bein’ finished with somethin’. Let’s take a look, shall we?
Now, I ain’t no fancy preacher or nothin’, but I’ve heard tell that 20 is like a full circle, ya see? Like when you waitin’ for somethin’ to be done, and it finally is. They say King Solomon, he waited 20 years for his house and that big church place to be built. Seven years for the church, then another thirteen for his house. That’s a long time, ain’t it? But when it was done, it was done. Complete, they say. Like bakin’ a pie, ya gotta wait till it’s done, or it ain’t no good.
And then there’s this thing ’bout growin’ up. Seems like in the Bible, when God wanted to count folks, He counted the ones 20 and older. Why? ‘Cause they was grown-ups, that’s why! Not kids no more. Ready to do grown-up things, like fightin’ in a war or payin’ taxes. So, 20 could mean you’re all grown up and ready to go.
- Think of it like this: you plant a seed, and it takes time to grow. First a little sprout, then a bigger plant, and then finally, it’s ready. Maybe 20 is like that moment when the plant is fully grown, ready to give its fruit or flowers.
- Or maybe it’s like buildin’ a house. You gotta lay the foundation, put up the walls, put on the roof. It takes time and work. But when it’s done, it’s done. You can move in and call it home. 20 might be like that final nail bein’ hammered in.
Now, some folks, they like to get all fancy with numbers and letters and such. They say in the Hebrew alphabet, there’s a letter that stands for 20, and it means strength, and blessings, and things gettin’ done, and growin’ all the way up. Sounds good to me, even if I don’t know all that fancy stuff. Blessings are always good, right? And strong is good too, like a good cup of coffee. And getting things done, well, that’s just plain sensible.
There’s this idea of waitin’, too. Like Jacob, he waited 20 years to get his wife and go back home. That’s a mighty long wait! But he waited, and in the end, he got what he wanted. So maybe 20 means you gotta be patient, gotta wait for the good things to come. Like waitin’ for the harvest after you planted your crops. You can’t rush it, can ya?
And then there’s all this talk about fightin’. In the Bible, they counted the men 20 and older who could go to war. So 20 is also ’bout bein’ ready to fight, ready to stand up for what’s right. Not that I like fightin’, mind you. But sometimes you gotta be strong and protect what’s yours.
So, what does 20 mean in the Bible? Well, it seems to mean a whole bunch of things, don’t it? It means waitin’, it means bein’ done, it means growin’ up, it means bein’ strong, and it means bein’ ready. It’s a number that tells ya things take time, but that good things come to those who wait, and to those who are ready when the time comes. It’s a number of finishin’ somethin’, bein’ grown, and bein’ ready for whatever life throws at ya. And that, I reckon, is a good thing to remember.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ I know it all. But from what I hear tell, and from what I read in that Good Book, 20 is a number you should pay attention to. It ain’t just a number, it’s a sign. A sign of waitin’, a sign of finishin’, a sign of growin’ up, and a sign of bein’ ready. And that’s somethin’ we can all use a little bit of in our lives, ain’t it? A little patience, a little strength, and a little readiness for whatever comes our way.
