Okay, so I’ve been meaning to mess around with tarot cards for a while, and today I finally did it. I’ve always been a little curious, you know? Not in a super serious way, but more like, “Huh, I wonder what that’s all about?” So, yeah, today was the day I dove into the world of “trumps tarot.”
First, I had to actually get some cards. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money, so I just grabbed a cheap deck. Nothing fancy, just your basic Rider-Waite deck. I figured that was a good place to start.
Next up, I needed to figure out how this whole thing works. I mean, I’ve seen people do readings in movies and stuff, but I had no clue about the specifics. So I did what any normal person would do – I went down an internet search.
I started looking at a few websites, just trying to get a basic understanding of the cards. Each card has its own meaning, and it depends on whether it’s upright or reversed. It was a lot to take in.
- The Major Arcana: These are the big, important cards, like The Fool, The Lovers, The Tower… apparently, these represent major life lessons and themes.
- The Minor Arcana: These are more like everyday stuff. They’re divided into four suits (Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles), kind of like regular playing cards.
My First Practice Reading
After some of my simple research,I figured I’d try a simple three-card spread – past, present, future. I shuffled the deck, focusing on, well, nothing specific, just kinda clearing my mind. Then I laid out three cards.
Honestly, interpreting them was… interesting. I had to keep looking back at those websites to remember what each card meant. I felt a bit silly at first, but I was also having fun.
I’m not going to pretend I’m suddenly a tarot expert. Far from it! But it was a fun little experiment. I think I’ll keep playing around with it, maybe try some different spreads. It’s a cool way to think about things from a different perspective, even if you don’t believe in the whole “fortune-telling” aspect. It is a great way for self-reflection!
