Okay, so I finally decided to dive into using those dragon tarot cards I picked up a while back. Been curious about them. They looked pretty cool, and I figured, why not try something different?
Getting Started with the Deck
First thing I did was just open the box and get a feel for the cards. Took them out, looked through each one. The artwork is intense, definitely all about dragons, fierce ones, wise ones, all sorts. They have a nice weight to them, not too flimsy, which is good. I spent a bit just handling them, shuffling them maybe more than needed, just trying to connect with the feel of this particular deck. It felt a bit different than standard decks, maybe just the energy of the imagery.
My First Reading Attempt
So, after shuffling them till they felt right, I decided to do a simple reading. Nothing too complicated for the first go. I just wanted to see how they felt in action. I settled on a basic three-card spread – you know, like situation, action, outcome. Or maybe past, present, future. I kept it loose.
I focused on a general question, something about the energy around my current projects. Didn’t want to get too specific yet. Then I drew the three cards, laying them face down first, then flipping them over one by one.
Trying to Understand the Dragons
Alright, here’s where it got interesting. Looking at the cards, the dragons were front and center. This wasn’t like just seeing a different style of knight or queen. The dragons themselves seemed to carry the meaning.
- Card 1: This dragon looked like it was guarding something fiercely. My first thought was protection, or maybe being too defensive about an idea.
- Card 2: The second one showed a dragon soaring high, looked like freedom, or maybe needing a higher perspective.
- Card 3: The last one was a bit more mysterious, a dragon kind of half-hidden in shadows. Made me think about unknown factors or things I wasn’t seeing clearly.
I did glance at the little booklet that came with it. It gave some keywords, which helped a little, but honestly, I found myself mostly just looking at the dragon on each card and thinking about what that specific dragon’s pose and expression might mean in relation to my simple question. It felt more intuitive, maybe less structured than other decks I’ve used.
How It Felt
Overall? It was a pretty powerful first session. The imagery is strong, no doubt about it. It didn’t give me like, crystal clear answers, but it definitely gave me a strong feeling, a sort of energetic nudge. It felt a bit wilder, less formal. I wouldn’t say it was harder than using other tarot decks, just… different. More visceral, I guess. The dragons added a layer that felt ancient and strong.
Using Them Again
I’ve used them a few times since that first try. Still getting used to them. Each time, I focus more on the dragon’s energy in the card. Sometimes it clicks right away, other times I sit with it for a bit. It’s a practice, right? You just keep doing it. I’m finding I rely less on the book now and more on just looking and feeling what the dragon energy suggests for the situation. It’s been a good addition, definitely shakes things up.
