Okay, here’s my take on sharing my experience with tarot decks for 2023, written in a personal, blog-style format:
So, I got really into tarot this year. Like, REALLY into it. I’ve always been curious, but 2023 was the year I decided to dive deep. And the first big question, of course, was: which deck to choose? There are SO many out there!
I started by, you know, just Googling around. “Best tarot decks,” “tarot decks for beginners,” that kind of thing. I spent hours, honestly, falling down internet rabbit holes, looking at pictures and reading reviews.
My First Attempts
My very first deck was something cheap I grabbed online. Big mistake! The card stock was flimsy, the images were kinda blurry… it just didn’t feel right. I learned pretty quickly that the feel of the cards in your hands is a big deal.
Then I tried a few others that were recommended on different websites. Some were pretty, with all this intricate artwork, but I found them hard to connect with. It was like they were too busy, too much going on. I couldn’t really “hear” the cards, if that makes sense.
Finding My Groove
After a few misses, I started to figure out what I was looking for. I realized I wanted something with:
- Good quality card stock: Something that felt good to shuffle and wouldn’t fall apart.
- Clear imagery: I didn’t need super fancy artwork, but I wanted images that were easy to understand and that resonated with me.
- A good guidebook: As a beginner, I needed a guidebook that explained the card meanings in a way that made sense.
I started paying more attention to reviews that talked about these things. I also started looking at unboxing videos on YouTube, which was super helpful! Seeing the cards “in action” made a huge difference.
Success!
After much trial and error, it’s finally starting to pay off, and I can practice more and more deeply, it’s really amazing!
It’s been a journey, for sure! But it’s been so worth it. Finding the right deck is like finding a good friend – it makes all the difference.
