I started flipping through Genesis. I figured, creation, beginnings… gotta be some significance there. And yeah, sure enough, the fourth day is when God created the sun, moon, and stars. You know, the stuff that marks time and seasons. That seemed pretty important.
Then I thought, “Okay, what else?” So I did a quick search for “biblical meaning of number four”. I scrolled through a bunch of websites and articles. Some were a bit…out there. But some made some interesting points.
- I read that four can represent the material world, like the four corners of the earth, or the four cardinal directions (North, South, East, West).
- I also saw some connections to the four elements – earth, air, fire, water. Classic stuff.
I jotted down all these ideas in my notebook. I like to keep track of things I’m learning, makes me feel organized.

Then there are the four Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They tell the story of Jesus from four different perspectives. Four rivers in the Garden of Eden. Four living creatrues.
So, after all this digging and reading, what did I come up with? Well, it seems like four is often tied to creation, the physical world, and a sense of completeness or universality. It’s like the foundation, the basic building blocks of things.
