Okay, so I’ve been seeing these “medieval scapini tarot cards” all over my Pinterest feed, and I finally caved and decided to give them a try. I’m not really into tarot reading or anything, but the artwork on these things is just gorgeous, so I figured, why not?
First things first, I ordered a deck online. There are tons of different versions, so I just picked one that looked cool and wasn’t too pricey. It arrived a few days later, and I was immediately impressed by the quality of the cards. They’re nice and thick, and the printing is super detailed.
Getting Started
I unboxed them, and woah, so many cards! I had no idea what to do. So, I grabbed the little booklet that came with them. It’s supposed to explain the meanings of each card and how to do different spreads, like how to place the cards for a reading.
Honestly, the booklet was a bit confusing. Lots of talk about “major arcana” and “minor arcana” – I’m still not entirely sure what those mean. But I found a simple three-card spread that seemed easy enough: past, present, future. Sounded good to me!
My First Attempt
- I shuffled the cards, trying to “infuse them with my energy” like the booklet said. It felt a little silly, but I went with it.
- Then I laid out three cards face down: one for the past, one for the present, and one for the future.
- I flipped them over one by one. I got some knight card for the past, a queen card for the present, and… I can’t remember the future one, but it had a picture of a tower on it.
I looked up the meanings in the booklet. The past one was about overcoming challenges, the present one was about nurturing relationships, and the future one was about… unexpected change? Or something like that. It was all very vague.
Practice Makes Perfect…?
I’ve tried a few more readings since then, just for fun. I’m still not taking it too seriously, but it’s kind of interesting to see what cards come up and try to interpret them. I even tried reading for my friend, and we just ended up laughing because we couldn’t make sense of anything.
I’m definitely not a tarot expert, not even close. But the cards themselves are beautiful, and it’s been a fun little experiment. Maybe I’ll keep practicing, maybe I’ll just use them as fancy bookmarks. Who knows! The main thing is, I enjoyed playing around with them, and that’s all that matters, right?
