Choosing from different tarot decks: A beginners guide to finding your fit.

So, I got into this whole tarot card thing a while back, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I started with just one deck, you know, the classic Rider-Waite one that everyone seems to have. Thought it was pretty cool, the pictures were interesting, and I kinda liked the whole mystical vibe. I started pulling cards for myself, just for fun, trying to figure out what the heck they meant. Looked up meanings online, got a few books, the usual stuff.

But then, I stumbled upon this whole world of different tarot decks. It’s like, a whole universe out there! There’s a deck for everything, seriously. I saw decks with cats, decks with dragons, decks based on TV shows, even decks with just, like, abstract art. My mind was blown.

Started Collecting Decks

Naturally, I started to collect a few. I mean, who wouldn’t? They’re like little pieces of art you can hold in your hand. I got a deck with really beautiful watercolor paintings, and another one that’s all dark and gothic. Each one has its own personality, its own feel. It’s like they speak in different languages, even though the underlying meanings are mostly the same.

I began to notice that when I used different decks, I got different vibes from the readings. Like, the classic Rider-Waite deck feels very, I don’t know, traditional? It’s good for getting to the point, no-nonsense kind of readings. But then, I’d use this other deck, the one with the dreamy artwork, and it would give me these really insightful, almost poetic readings. It’s wild how much the artwork can influence the interpretation.

Experimenting with Readings

  • I started experimenting, doing readings with different decks for the same question.
  • It was fascinating to see how the answers would vary, even though the core message was usually similar.
  • It’s like each deck has its own way of getting the point across.

And then there’s the whole thing about connecting with a deck. Some people say you should only use a deck that really resonates with you, and I kinda get it now. I have this one deck that I just can’t seem to get along with. The readings always feel off, like we’re not speaking the same language. But then I have another deck that feels like an old friend. I always get clear, helpful readings from it.

It’s been a journey, you know? I’m still learning, still exploring. But I’m totally hooked on this tarot thing. It’s not just about predicting the future or whatever, it’s more about self-reflection, about understanding yourself and the world around you. And these different decks, they’re like different lenses you can use to look at things. It’s pretty amazing, really.

So yeah, that’s my tarot story so far. I’ll keep you guys posted on any new decks I get or any crazy readings I do. It’s a fun hobby, and it’s definitely taught me a lot. You never know what you’ll find when you start messing around with these cards.
