Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get into tarot for, like, forever, and I finally took the plunge! Today was all about getting my hands on a classic deck and just messing around with it.
First Steps
I started by hitting up that little bookstore downtown – you know, the one with the crystals and incense? I figured they’d have a decent selection. And they did! There were tons of different decks, but I was looking for something…traditional.
I wanted the classic Rider-Waite deck. I did a little research and, it is supposed to be good for beginners.
Getting to Know the Cards
Back home, I cleared off my kitchen table – gotta have a good workspace, right? – and spread out the cards. I just started looking at them, one by one. The artwork is so cool! So many little details and symbols.
- The Fool: This guy looks so carefree, just stepping off a cliff!
- The Magician: All those tools on the table – makes you think about potential, you know?
- The High Priestess: Super mysterious, sitting between those pillars.
- The Lovers:Not just about romantic love, but big life decisions.
- The Chariot: Represents willpower, determination, control.
- …and so on. I didn’t get through the whole deck, but I flipped through them, just getting a feel for the imagery.
First Attempts at Reading
I wanted to try a simple spread. I went to the internet and found out a three-card spread – you know, past, present, future. It’s probably super basic, but hey, gotta start somewhere!
I shuffled the cards, thinking about a general question about my career. I was trying to be present and, whatever. Then I drew three cards:
- Past: The reversed Ten of Cups. A little internet search, It means something wrong in family. I felt it correct because I had to change my job to take care of family last year.
- Present: The Six of Wands. It means victory, so, I think I have a good mood in current job.
- Future:The reversed The Star. Okay, this one I need more time to understand.
Wrapping Up
I spent a couple of hours with the cards. It was about reading the pictures, feeling, and thinking. I know I’ve got a ton to learn, but it was a really fun first step. I’m already thinking about what spread to try tomorrow!
