My Tarot Practice Today

Okay, so I decided it was time to sit down and do a reading for myself today. Been feeling a bit scattered, you know? Needed some focus.

First thing, I grabbed my favorite deck. It’s worn in just right, feels good in my hands. I found a quiet spot, cleared my table, just kinda settled myself down for a few minutes. Deep breaths, trying to get centered.

Then, the shuffling. This part’s important to me. I shuffled for quite a while, just letting the cards mix, thinking vaguely about needing some clarity on my current situation. Didn’t focus too hard on one specific question, more like a general ‘what do I need to know right now?’ vibe. I shuffled them overhand, then riffled a couple of times, just until it felt ‘done’. You kinda get a feeling.

Once I felt the shuffling was complete, I placed the deck face down. I cut the deck into three piles using my left hand, just went with instinct. Then I restacked them in an order that felt right.

I decided on a simple three-card spread: Past, Present, Future. Nice and straightforward. So, I drew the top three cards:

  • The first card went to the left (Past).
  • The second card went in the middle (Present).
  • The third card went to the right (Future).

I turned them over one by one. Didn’t rush it. Just looked at each card, taking in the image. The first one, representing the past influences, made a lot of sense actually. The second one, for the present, was… well, pretty spot on for how things feel right now. A bit challenging, but clear. The future card gave me something to think about, a possible direction or outcome to consider.

I spent some time just looking at the three cards together, seeing how they flowed or contrasted. Didn’t pull out any books right away, just used my own understanding and gut feeling about what they meant together in this context.

After sitting with them for maybe ten minutes, I jotted down the cards drawn and a few thoughts in my journal. Helps me remember and see if patterns show up later. Felt good afterwards, calmer. Like I had a little more perspective. That was my practice for the day.
