Debunking Tarot Myths: Are Tarot Cards Really BS or Not?

Okay, so I’ve always been a bit skeptical about tarot cards. Like, are they really telling me something, or is it just random chance? I decided to put it to the test, for fun, and document the whole thing.

My Tarot Experiment

First, I bought a deck. Nothing fancy, just a standard Rider-Waite deck I found online. I figured I should start with the basics, right?

Then, I spent some time just looking at the cards. I didn’t try to memorize meanings or anything, I just wanted to get a feel for the imagery. Some of them were pretty cool, others were kinda creepy, to be honest.

Next, I found a simple three-card spread online – you know, past, present, future. Seemed easy enough. I shuffled the deck, really focusing on a question I had. Nothing too serious, just something like, “What should I focus on this week?”

  • Past: I drew The Chariot. I looked it up later, and it’s supposed to represent willpower and determination. Which, okay, I guess I’ve been pretty focused on getting some projects done lately.
  • Present: The Lovers. This one’s all about choices and relationships. Made me think about some decisions I’ve been putting off.
  • Future: Ten of Cups. Supposedly, this means harmony and happiness. Sounds pretty good, right?

I wrote down the cards I drew and my initial thoughts. I didn’t want to go too deep into the “official” meanings yet. I wanted to see if anything resonated with me on a gut level.

Throughout the week, I kept the cards in mind. I didn’t obsess over them, but I did pay attention to situations that seemed to relate. Like, when I had to make a tough decision (The Lovers, remember?), I actually thought about the card and what it might be telling me.

At the end of the week, I looked back at my notes. Honestly, some of it was surprisingly relevant. The “choices” thing definitely lined up with some stuff I was dealing with. The “happiness” card? Well, the week wasn’t perfect, but it was pretty good overall.

So, are tarot cards BS? I’m still not 100% sure. It could all be coincidence. Maybe I was just more aware of things because I was looking for connections. But it was a fun experiment, and it did make me think a little differently about some things. Maybe there’s something to it, maybe there isn’t. I might try it again sometime, just to see what happens.
