Deviant Moon Tarot: Explore its unique imagery and find your perfect deck.

So, I got into this thing called the “Deviant Moon Tarot” recently, and let me tell you, it’s been quite a ride. I’ve always been kind of curious about tarot cards, but these ain’t your grandma’s deck. The artwork is wild, man, like something out of a trippy dream. The artist, Patrick Valenza, used photos of old tombstones, can you believe it? And he twisted them into these moon-faced characters. It’s bizarre, but it really got me hooked.

First, I just spent some time flipping through the deck. You know, just getting a feel for the images. Each card is like its own little story. I found a quiet spot in my apartment, lit a candle, you know, to set the mood, and just looked at each card for a while.

Then I started doing some simple readings, mostly for myself. I’d shuffle the cards, think of a question, and pull one out. I’d look at the image and try to figure out what it meant. The little booklet that comes with the deck is helpful, but I found that just going with my gut was the best way. Sometimes, I look up the card’s meaning online for another viewpoint. And I found some website said that the Rider-Waite Tarot is a classic. It was created back in 1909 by some folks from a group called the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Fancy, huh?

Digging Deeper

As I got more comfortable, I started trying out different spreads, which is just a fancy word for how you lay out the cards. I even tried doing readings for some friends, which was kind of nerve-wracking at first, but it was also really fun. We’d sit around, and I’d lay out the cards, and we’d all try to figure out what they meant together. There is this card I found super interesting, it is The Lovers Card, and it’s the 7th Major Arcana card. I found out that it could symbolize love, connection, and harmony. I love this card!

One thing I learned is that the suits have different meanings. The booklet tells you that.

  • Hearts are all about feelings, relationships, and family stuff.
  • Diamonds are about money, and deals, you know, practical matters.
  • Clubs represent work, plans, and those kinds of things.

It is not just about memorizing what each card “officially” means. It’s more about how the cards make you feel and what they make you think about. It’s like they’re stirring up your intuition or something.

I’m still a newbie at this, but it’s been a really cool experience so far. It’s like the cards are a mirror, reflecting back your own thoughts and feelings. And the Deviant Moon Tarot, with its crazy artwork, it just adds another layer of intrigue. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but if you’re into something different, you might want to check it out.
