Okay, so, the other day I was listening to this song, and I was like, “What if this song is actually trying to tell me something?” You know, like those dreams where you’re falling, and it means you’re feeling insecure or something? So I got this kinda crazy idea to try and figure out the “meaning” behind some music, just like people do with dreams.
Getting Started
First, I picked a song. I didn’t want anything too obvious, you know? Like, not a song about dreaming. I went with one that just felt…dreamy, I guess? It’s got this floaty vibe, with some weird instruments and kinda vague lyrics.
Diving into the Music
- I listened to it a bunch of times. Like, a lot. With headphones, without headphones, while I was doing other stuff, while I was just sitting there… trying to really soak it in.
- Then, I jotted down any feelings or images that popped into my head. It was kinda like free-association. One part made me think of floating in the ocean, another part made me think of, like, an old dusty attic. Weird, right?
- Next, I looked at how the music changed,The tempo increase and decrease,I also try to find if the song has any special instruments
Trying to Make Sense of It
This is where it got tricky. I tried to connect the dots between the feelings, the images, and the actual music. Like, maybe the part that made me think of the ocean was where the music got really slow and echo-y? And maybe the dusty attic part was when the weird, high-pitched instrument came in?
My “Interpretation” (Take it with a grain of salt!)
So, after all that, I came up with this kinda loose “meaning” for the song. I figure it’s about feeling lost and searching for something, but also feeling kinda peaceful about it? Like, you’re adrift, but you’re okay with it. Maybe even enjoying the ride.
Which means a process of searching with a peaceful heart.
It’s probably totally off-base, and the musicians would laugh their heads off if they heard it. But hey, it was a fun experiment! It definitely made me listen to music in a different way, and that’s pretty cool in itself. Maybe I’ll try it again with another song sometime. Who knows what hidden messages are lurking in my playlist!
