Well, howdy there! Let’s talk about these, uh, African whatchamacallits…zodiac signs, yeah. They got twelve of ‘em, just like them other star signs you hear about. But these here are different, ya know? They come from Africa, olden times, they say.

What are these African Zodiac Signs anyway?
So, they say each sign is tied to a story, somethin’ they call an Orisha. Sounds fancy, huh? Kinda like them gods and goddesses they talk about in them old books. Each one’s got its own personality, its own way of doin’ things.
Let’s see if I can remember them all now… It ain’t easy for an old gal like me.
- The Baobab Tree (Jan 4 – Feb 3): They say these folks are honest and true, like a good strong tree. They think before they act, ain’t jumpin’ into things all willy-nilly.
- The Wealth of Amber and Silver (Feb 4 – Mar 5): Now, these folks, they got that somethin’ special, that shine. They’re sensitive, kinda like a delicate flower, but strong inside.
- The Family (Mar 6 – Apr 4): Family’s important, ya know? These folks, they understand that. They’re all about connections, lookin’ after their own. Loyal, that’s what they are.
- Small Services to the Neighborhood (Apr 5 – May 4): These are your helpers, your do-gooders. Always ready to lend a hand, always there for their neighbors. Kind hearts, they got.
- The Market (May 5 – June 4): Ah, the market! A busy place, full of life. These folks are like that, full of energy, always on the go. They like to talk, to share, to connect.
- The Ancestor (June 5 – July 4): Respect your elders, that’s what I always say. These folks, they understand that. They listen to the wisdom of the past, they learn from those who came before.
- The Judge (July 5 – Aug 4): Fair and just, that’s what a judge should be. These folks, they try to live up to that. They see both sides of things, they try to do what’s right.
- The Kola Nut (Aug 5 – Sep 3): This here nut, it’s important, they say. Brings people together. These folks are like that, they bring people together, they make connections.
- The Traveler (Sep 4 – Oct 3): Wanderers, these folks. Always looking for somethin’ new, always on the move. Restless souls, they are, but full of life.
- The Distance (Oct 4 – Nov 3): Sometimes you need a little space, ya know? These folks, they understand that. They’re independent, they like to do their own thing. But they got big hearts, too.
- The Child of the World (Nov 4 – Dec 3): Open-minded, that’s what these folks are. They see the world in all its colors, they embrace all kinds of people. They got a big heart for the whole wide world.
- The Harvest and the Granary (Dec 4 – Jan 3): The harvest, that’s when you reap what you sow. These folks are like that, they work hard, they plan ahead. They know how to take care of things, how to make things last.
So, what does it all mean?
Well, I reckon it’s like this. These signs, they’re just a way of understandin’ ourselves and the folks around us. They give us a little somethin’ to think about, a little somethin’ to talk about. Ain’t no magic to it, not really. It’s just a way of lookin’ at the world, seein’ the patterns, understandin’ the connections. You know, like lookin’ at the stars and figuring out when to plant your corn.

It’s all connected, see?
They say all these signs come from them Orisha gods. Like, Ogun is the Aries one, real strong and headstrong. And Osun, she’s the Taurus, steady and beautiful, like a river. And then there’s Yemoja, the Cancer one, all about family and emotions, like the moon pulls the tides. They all got their stories, their lessons to teach us. It’s like a big old family up there in the sky, lookin’ down on us, guidin’ us along the way.
Now, I ain’t no expert on these things, mind you. I’m just an old gal, tryin’ to make sense of it all. But I reckon there’s somethin’ to it, somethin’ worth thinkin’ about. Maybe these signs can help us understand each other a little better, maybe they can help us understand ourselves. And that ain’t a bad thing, now is it?
It’s like lookin’ up at the night sky. You see all them stars, twinklin’ away, and you realize you’re just a small part of somethin’ bigger, somethin’ grander. And that, well, that’s enough to make an old gal like me feel a little bit better about things.
