Okay, so today I tried out a 10-card tarot reading, something I’ve been meaning to do for a while. I’ve dabbled with smaller spreads, but this felt like a big step up. I was a little nervous, to be honest, but also excited to see what the cards might reveal.
First things first, I got my space ready. I cleared off my coffee table, lit a candle (lavender, my favorite!), and put on some chill music. I wanted to make sure the vibes were right, you know? Then, I grabbed my deck – the one my friend Sarah gave me. It’s got these really beautiful, sort of dreamy illustrations.
Before I started shuffling, I took a few deep breaths. I tried to clear my mind and focus on the question I had. It wasn’t anything super specific, more like a general “what do I need to know right now?” kind of thing. I find that works best for me.
Shuffling the cards took a while. I wanted to make sure they were really mixed up. I used a combination of the riffle shuffle (which I’m still not great at) and just spreading them out on the table and swirling them around. It felt a bit chaotic, but in a good way.
Then came the layout. I followed a guide I found online for a 10-card Celtic Cross spread. It looked pretty complicated at first, but once I broke it down, it wasn’t too bad. I laid out each card one by one, face down, in its specific position:
- Card 1: The Present – What’s happening now.
- Card 2: The Challenge – What’s crossing you.
- Card 3: The Past – Recent past influences.
- Card 4: The Future- Near future.
- Card 5: Above – Your goal or best outcome.
- Card 6: Below – The foundation, the subconscious.
- Card 7: Advice – What you need to consider.
- Card 8: External Influences – What’s around you.
- Card 9: Hopes and Fears – Your inner feelings.
- Card 10: Outcome – Where it’s all heading.
Turning over the cards was the most intense part. It felt like each card held a little piece of the puzzle. I took my time with each one, really looking at the imagery and trying to get a sense of what it meant. I even jotted down some notes in my journal – keywords, feelings, anything that came to mind.
Putting It All Together
Interpreting all ten cards together was definitely a challenge. It wasn’t like reading a single sentence; it was more like trying to understand a whole story. I had to look at how the cards related to each other, how the meanings might overlap or *’s a good exercise.I think I might try this with other questions.
The spread gave me a lot to think about. The best thing is I got a new way to see the problem and how to handle it. It wasn’t a simple “yes” or “no” answer, but it gave me some insights into my current situation, the challenges I’m facing, and some potential paths forward. I feel like I have a better understanding of myself and what I need to focus on. I’ll definitely be doing this again!
