How to do a tarot spread love reading? Simple steps for relationship insights.

My Go at a Love Tarot Spread

So, the other day, I decided to actually sit down and do one of those tarot spreads specifically about love. Wasn’t really expecting fireworks or anything, just felt like it was time to kinda check in with myself on that front, you know? Things felt a bit stagnant, and I figured, why not see what the cards might stir up?

First things first, I grabbed my trusty old deck. It’s seen better days, edges are a bit soft, but it feels right in my hands. I didn’t do any fancy ritual stuff. Just sat at my kitchen table, cleared away the breakfast dishes, and took a few deep breaths. Really tried to quiet my mind, which isn’t always easy. Focused on just being open to whatever came up about my love life, or lack thereof, I guess.

I gave the cards a good shuffle. Not like a casino dealer, just a comfortable mix, thinking about my general situation and what I hoped to understand better. I decided on a simple three-card spread: Past, Present, Future. Kept it basic.

Okay, so I cut the deck and drew the three cards, laying them face down. Flipped the first one – the Past card. It was the Three of Swords. Ouch. Yeah, no surprises there, honestly. Definitely brought back some memories of past heartbreaks. It felt pretty accurate, a bit raw, but acknowledged what’s been.

Then, the Present card. I turned it over, and it was The Hermit. Okay, that made sense too. Spending a lot of time alone, reflecting, maybe being a bit too withdrawn? The card felt quiet, introspective. It wasn’t bad, just… solitary. Pretty much nailed where I feel I am right now – figuring things out on my own.

Finally, the Future card. This was the one I was most curious about. I flipped it… the Two of Cups. Now, that was interesting. Usually seen as partnership, connection, harmony. Seeing it there felt… hopeful? Unexpected, maybe. It wasn’t some grand passionate explosion card, but it suggested a possibility of connection, sharing.

Putting it Together

Looking at the three cards together – Three of Swords (Past Hurt), The Hermit (Present Introspection), Two of Cups (Future Connection) – it felt like a story. It showed the journey from dealing with old wounds, through a period of self-reflection and solitude, towards a potential for a balanced relationship.

  • Past: Yep, got the hurt out of the way.
  • Present: Currently doing the inner work, maybe a bit isolated.
  • Future: Possibility of partnership looks good.

So, what did I really get out of it? No magic answers, obviously. But it was… grounding. It kind of validated the past hurt, acknowledged the present need for space, and offered a gentle nudge of hope for the future. It didn’t tell me who or when, just that the potential is there after this period of being on my own. Felt like a good reminder that the introspection phase (The Hermit) is maybe necessary before the connection (Two of Cups) can happen properly. It was a useful exercise, made me think about the process rather than just wishing for an outcome. Worth doing again sometime.
