How to Pick Tarot Cards that Resonate with your Energy.

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get into tarot cards for a while, but honestly, I was super intimidated. Where do you even start? I finally decided to just dive in, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. Here’s how I went about picking my first tarot cards, and maybe it’ll help some of you who are feeling lost.

My First Baby Steps

First, I did what anyone does – I went online. I watched videos on YouTube. And I came across some stuff that had a lot of professional terms in it and I didn’t quite understand it. The point is to watch more and keep more.

Actually Getting My Hands on Some Cards

I knew I needed to see some cards in person. I went to a bookstore, I found a few different decks. Here’s what I did:

  • Looked at the pictures: Seriously, this is the most important part! I flipped through a few decks and just looked at the artwork. Some were super detailed and traditional, some were really modern and abstract.
  • Felt the vibe: I know, I know, it sounds cheesy, but I held each deck in my hands for a minute. Did it feel good? Did the images make me think of anything?
  • Checked the guidebook: Most decks come with a little book that explains the meaning of each card. I skimmed through a couple to see if the explanations made sense to me.

Making My Choice

After looking at a bunch of decks, one really stood out. The pictures were beautiful, but not too complicated. The guidebook seemed pretty straightforward. And, honestly, the deck just felt right in my hands. It was a classic Rider-Waite deck, which I heard is good for beginners.

What I Learned

Here’s the biggest thing I learned: Don’t overthink it! There’s no “perfect” deck. It’s all about finding one that you connect with. Trust your gut. If a deck feels interesting or exciting to you, that’s a good sign.

It doesn’t matter what other people say, the best way is using your instution. I went to a bookstore and tried to touch all kinds of cards. And, the one instution told me to take is my best choice.

It is important to remember do not overthinking, this is the key!

So, that’s my story. I’m still a total beginner, but I’m having fun learning. I hope this helps anyone who’s feeling a little overwhelmed about choosing their first tarot deck. Just go for it!
