How to understand Egyptian tarot reading symbols? Unlock the deep secrets behind these powerful ancient cards.

Okay, so today I decided to pull out my Egyptian tarot deck. It’s been sitting on the shelf for a bit, and I just felt like connecting with it. It’s got this different vibe, you know? The artwork is less like the standard Rider-Waite, more hieroglyphs and Egyptian figures, feels kind of ancient.

Getting Set Up

First thing, I went over to my little table in the corner. Cleared off the random stuff that ends up there – mail, keys, you know how it is. Wiped it down quickly. Didn’t do anything too fancy, no candles or sage today, just wanted a clear space.

Then I grabbed the deck. It’s got this smooth, slightly heavier cardstock. I just held it for a minute, trying to get my head quiet. That’s always the hardest part for me, shutting off the internal chatter.

Shuffling and Drawing

I started shuffling. I don’t do fancy shuffles, just a basic overhand mix, over and over. Focused on the feel of the cards slipping past each other. I wasn’t asking a super specific question, more just asking for a general vibe check, like “What energy is around me right now?”.

Shuffled until it felt ‘right’. It’s not a science, just an intuition thing. Sometimes it takes longer, sometimes it’s quick. Today felt pretty quick.

Then I spread the cards out face down in a messy fan shape on the table. Closed my eyes for a second, took a breath, and just let my hand hover over them. I decided on a simple three-card pull:

  • Card 1: The current situation
  • Card 2: The challenge or action needed
  • Card 3: The potential outcome

I pulled the three cards that my fingers just sort of landed on. Didn’t second guess it. Placed them left to right in front of me.

Looking at the Cards

Okay, time to flip them over. One by one.

The first card, for the situation, showed a figure that looked a bit like Thoth, you know, the ibis-headed guy associated with writing and knowledge. My immediate thought was, “Okay, maybe things are about thinking, learning, or communication right now.” Lots of papyrus scrolls in the image too.

The second card, the challenge/action, was one with a big scarab beetle pushing the sun. It felt like effort, like needing to push forward with something, maybe needing some transformation or rebirth like the scarab represents. Hard work, basically. No surprise there, always feels like there’s something to push through.

The third card, the outcome, had Isis on it, looking pretty serene and powerful, holding an Ankh. My gut feeling on this one was positive. Like, if I handle the ‘thinking’ part (card 1) and do the ‘pushing’ work (card 2), things could lead to a place of stability, maybe some healing or power symbolized by Isis and the Ankh. Seemed hopeful.

Wrapping Up

So yeah, that was the reading. I didn’t dive deep into complex meanings or consult a book right then. Just took my initial impressions based on the images and the positions.

I sat with them for a few more minutes, just looking at the pictures and letting the ideas sink in. It felt like a helpful little check-in. Nothing earth-shattering, just a moment to pause and reflect using these cool Egyptian symbols.

Then I gathered the cards, put them back in their box, and put them back on the shelf. Cleared the table again. Felt a little more centered afterwards. Just sharing what I did today!
