Is it easy to pull a card tarot yourself at home? Learn the simple basics for personal guidance now.

Okay, so I decided to pull a card today. Nothing major going on, just felt like seeing what popped up. It’s become a bit of a morning thing for me lately, helps clear my head sometimes, or just gives me something to focus on for a minute instead of diving straight into emails.

Grabbing the Deck

I went over to my shelf and grabbed my trusty deck. It’s one I’ve had for ages, the pictures are pretty straightforward, which I like. No need for super artsy, confusing stuff first thing in the morning. The edges are getting a bit soft, shows it’s been used, right? I like that. Makes it feel like mine.

Shuffling Time

So, I sat down with it. Didn’t really have a specific question in mind, more like a ‘what’s the vibe for today?’ kind of thing. I just started shuffling. My shuffling is pretty basic, nothing fancy like you see in videos. Just a standard overhand shuffle, mix ’em up good. I do this for a minute or two, just focusing on the feel of the cards, trying to keep my mind kinda blank but open.

Picking the Card

When it felt right, I just stopped shuffling. I usually cut the deck into three piles, using my left hand – no idea why, just habit. Then I stack ’em back together in a random order. After that, I fanned them out a bit on the table, face down. Closed my eyes for a second, took a breath, and just let my hand hover over them until one felt… I dunno, slightly different? Warmer? Probably just imagining it. Anyway, I pulled that one out.

The Reveal and Quick Thought

Flipped it over. The Hermit. Okay. My first thought was, ‘Great, means I’m gonna be hiding away all day?’ which honestly sounded pretty good. But I know it’s usually meant to be more about looking inward, thinking things through, maybe seeking some guidance or taking time for reflection.

I didn’t pull out any books this time. Sometimes I do, if it’s a really confusing card or one I haven’t seen in a while. But The Hermit? I know this guy. Lantern, staff, long beard, standing alone on a mountain. Pretty clear image.

What I Did With It

So, The Hermit. I thought about it while making coffee. Maybe it was just a nudge to actually take some quiet time today. I’ve been meaning to sit down and really map out that project I’ve been putting off. Maybe today’s the day to just shut the door, turn off notifications, and actually think. It wasn’t some huge revelation, you know? Just a simple reminder.

  • Grabbed my deck.
  • Shuffled while thinking ‘what’s up today?’.
  • Cut and drew the card that felt ‘right’.
  • Got The Hermit.
  • Thought, ‘Okay, focus time needed.’

That was it really. Card went back in the deck. Didn’t magically solve anything, but it gave me a little theme for the day. Sometimes that’s all it is. Just a little nudge, a different way to look at the next few hours. Works for me.
