Alright, so this was my tenth time actually sitting down and doing a proper tarot reading for myself. It feels a bit weird saying “tenth,” like it’s some milestone, but hey, gotta track progress, right?
Setting Things Up
First off, I grabbed my deck. It’s getting nicely worn in now, feels good in the hands. Found my usual quiet spot, just the corner of my room where the light’s decent and nobody bothers me much. Cleared off the little table I use. Just helps get my head straight, you know?
I spent a good few minutes just shuffling the cards. Didn’t really time it, just shuffled until it felt right. I try not to overthink this part, just let my hands do the work. Put the deck down when it felt done.
Doing the Reading
Decided on a simple three-card spread this time. Past, present, future. Keeps things manageable, especially since I’m still figuring stuff out. Cut the deck, drew the three cards, and laid them out face down first.
Took a breath, then flipped them over one by one.
- Card 1 (Past): Got the Four of Cups. Yeah, kinda felt that one. Been a bit meh lately, maybe missing opportunities or just feeling bored. Made sense looking back.
- Card 2 (Present): The Hermit. Okay, this one hit home too. Felt like it was telling me it’s alright to be pulling back a bit, spending time alone, thinking things through. Which is pretty much what I’ve been doing.
- Card 3 (Future): Pulled the Ten of Pentacles. This was nice to see. Feels like security, family, long-term happiness. Didn’t get too carried away, but it felt like a positive nudge, maybe suggesting the quiet time now leads to something solid later.
Thinking It Over
Looked at the three cards together for a while. Didn’t dive super deep into complex meanings or anything. Just tried to get a feel for the story they were telling, from the past dissatisfaction, through the current inward focus, towards that potential stability.
It wasn’t earth-shattering, no big revelations. But it felt… grounding? Yeah, that’s the word. Just a simple check-in with myself using the cards as prompts. It felt smoother than the first few times I tried this. Less fumbling, more just going with the flow.
Packed the cards up afterwards. Tenth session done. Still learning, still practicing. Felt pretty okay about it overall. Just another step on the path, I guess.
