Learn How to Play Tarot Cards Easily: Quick Tips for Reading Tarot Spreads Fast

Okay, so I decided to learn how to play Tarot cards. I’ve always been curious about it, and I figured, why not give it a shot? It’s not as mystical as it might seem, it can be a tool for self-reflection, to get a new view on some problems.

First, I got myself a deck. I went with the classic Rider-Waite deck because I read it’s good for beginners. Lots of imagery, easy to, you know, get the gist of.

Getting to Know the Cards

Next, I spent some time just looking at the cards. I didn’t try to memorize anything at first. I just flipped through them, noticing the pictures, the colors, the symbols… trying to get a feel for each one.

Then, I started learning the meanings. I used a guidebook that came with the deck, and I also looked stuff up online. Man, there’s a LOT of info out there! It was a bit overwhelming at first, so i try to make it simpler for me to begin practice.

  • The Major Arcana: These are the big, symbolic cards, like The Fool, The Lovers, The Hanged Man. They represent major life lessons, archetypes, that kind of stuff.
  • The Minor Arcana: These are more like regular playing cards, with four suits (Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles) and numbered cards plus court cards (Page, Knight, Queen, King). They represent everyday events, feelings, situations.

My First Reading (It Was a Mess!)

I was nervous about the reading, so I did a simple three-card spread. I think it was something like “Past, Present, Future.”I shuffled the deck, thinking about a general question about my work life, and spread them to take 3 cards.

Honestly, the first time, I had to keep looking at the guidebook to figure out what the cards meant. It felt clunky, and I definitely wasn’t “feeling” the cards the way some people talk about. It was more like, “Okay, this card means this… so maybe that relates to my situation like… this?”

Practicing and Getting Better

But I kept practicing. I did readings for myself, I did a few for my partner (who was a good sport about it), and I even tried a couple for my cat (he wasn’t as cooperative).I read other guides and that helped me a lot.

Slowly, I started to get more comfortable with the cards. I didn’t have to look up the meanings as much. I started to see how the cards could relate to each other in a spread, and how they could tell a * become to feel easier with time.

Still Learning!

I’m definitely still a beginner. I’m not claiming to be some kind of psychic or anything. But I’m finding it a really interesting way to think about things, to get a different perspective on my life. It’s kind of like a visual journaling tool, in a way.I start to understand what people say about intuition with * hey, it’s a fun little hobby!

I still practice, now I try more complex card spreads and it is fun to see what appears, i don’t take it too serious, I see it more like a game, and that makes things light.
