Learning the simple one tarot spread: Easy steps for very clear answers.

Alright, let’s talk about this ‘one tarot’ thing I tried out. It wasn’t some grand spiritual awakening, mind you, just something I did one afternoon when things felt a bit… much.

Getting Started

So, I’ve had this old tarot deck kicking around for ages. Don’t even remember where it came from, probably a gift or something I picked up on a whim years ago. It mostly just sits on a shelf, looking mysterious. Usually, when people talk tarot, it’s these complex spreads, like the Celtic Cross or whatever. Takes time, concentration, you gotta know what each position means. Frankly, most days I just don’t have the bandwidth for that.

But this one particular Tuesday, work was dragging, felt like I was wading through mud. Couldn’t focus. I just wanted a tiny nudge, a single thought to chew on, not a whole roadmap. That’s when I remembered the deck.

The Actual Process – Pulling One Card

I decided, okay, forget the elaborate stuff. Just one card. Keep it simple.

  • First, I grabbed the deck off the shelf. Dusted it off a little.
  • I didn’t have a super specific question. It was more a vague feeling, like ‘What’s the energy I should focus on right now?’ or ‘Give me one thing to think about’.
  • I shuffled the cards. Didn’t do any fancy cuts or rituals, just mixed them up until it felt right. Sort of like shuffling a regular playing card deck.
  • Then, I just spread them out face down a bit and hovered my hand over them. Picked one that sort of… well, felt like the one to pick. No logic, just intuition, I guess.
  • I flipped it over.

The Card and What Happened Next

It was the Page of Cups. I looked at the picture – some young person holding a cup with a fish popping out. Looked kinda whimsical, maybe a bit naive.

I didn’t immediately know the ‘official’ meaning. I vaguely recalled Pages often mean messages or new beginnings, and Cups relate to emotions or creativity. So, my first thought was something like, ‘Okay, maybe expect some weird emotional news?’ or ‘Try something creative?’. It felt a bit underwhelming, honestly.

I put the card down on my desk, next to my keyboard. Didn’t really think much more about it consciously. But it sat there, in my peripheral vision.

Later that afternoon, I was stuck on a really annoying problem, something technical that just wouldn’t click. Usually, I’d just keep banging my head against the wall. But seeing that card, with its slightly odd, open-minded vibe… I dunno. I decided to try a completely different approach. Something less logical, more intuitive, just trying a ‘what if’ scenario I’d normally dismiss.

And it worked. Not like magic, but the shift in perspective helped me see the problem differently. It wasn’t the card telling me the solution, but it was like a little visual reminder to maybe not be so rigid in my thinking. To be open to a ‘fish popping out of a cup’ kind of unexpected idea.

So, yeah. My ‘one tarot’ experiment. It wasn’t earth-shattering. It didn’t predict my future. But pulling that single card did give me a small, concrete thing to reflect on for the day. A little mental prompt. Sometimes, that’s all you need. Just one little nudge.
