Mastering Tarot 6: The Ultimate Guide to Reading

Alright, let’s dive into my latest tarot journey, which I’m calling “tarot 6” for now. It’s a bit of a grab bag of readings and experiments, so buckle up!

First things first, I decided to shake things up with a new deck. I’d been using the Rider-Waite for ages, and felt like my readings were getting a little stale. So, I grabbed a Marseille deck. It’s way different – more symbolic, less pictorial. At first, I was completely lost! The cards felt super abstract, and I couldn’t get a decent read going. I spent a solid hour just trying to understand the basic symbolism. I Googled like crazy, watched some YouTube vids, and even dug out an old tarot book I had stashed away.

Then, I tried a simple three-card spread: past, present, future. Asked a general question about my career. Past card? The Tower. Yikes! Major upheaval. That makes sense, though. I recently switched jobs. Present card? The Hanged Man. Hmm, feeling stuck? Maybe. Future card? The Wheel of Fortune. Okay, things are gonna change again? Great! Not exactly the clearest reading ever, but it got me thinking. I journaled about it for a bit, trying to connect the cards to my actual life.

Next up, relationship reading for a friend. She’s been having some drama with her partner, so she asked me for some guidance. I used a Celtic Cross spread for this one. It’s a beast! Lots of cards, lots of positions to interpret. I pulled the cards, laid them out, and then…stared at them blankly for like ten minutes. I had to really slow down, look at each card individually, and then try to see how they related to each other. I focused on the feelings the cards evoked in me, and tried to put myself in my friend’s shoes.

Biggest challenge? The Court Cards. Knights, Queens, Kings…they always trip me up. Are they representing actual people? Aspects of my friend’s personality? The energy of the situation? I ended up interpreting them as different approaches she could take in the relationship. The Queen of Cups as nurturing and empathetic, the Knight of Swords as assertive and direct, etc. I wrote down all my interpretations and sent them to my friend. She said it was helpful, which was a relief!

Finally, I experimented with a single-card daily draw. Just to get more familiar with the Marseille deck. I pull a card in the morning, and then think about how it might apply to my day. Some days it’s obvious, other days it’s a real stretch. One day I drew the Sun card and had a surprisingly good day at work. The next day I drew the Devil and spent the whole day dealing with frustrating tech issues.

Overall, “tarot 6” was a learning experience. I’m still figuring out the Marseille deck, but I’m enjoying the challenge. It’s forcing me to think differently about tarot, and to trust my intuition more. I’m also realizing how important it is to connect the cards to real-life situations. It’s not just about memorizing meanings, it’s about using the tarot as a tool for self-reflection and insight. I’m gonna keep practicing and see where it takes me!
