Mastering Tarot de Marseille Deck: Your Easy Step-by-Step Guide.

So, I finally got my hands on a classic Marseille Tarot deck. I’ve been wanting to get into Tarot for a while, and I figured this was the perfect place to start. It’s supposed to be, like, the traditional deck, you know?

First, I unboxed it. The cards felt a little stiff at first, but I’ve heard that’s normal. I spent some time just looking at each card, getting a feel for the imagery. It’s way different than those modern decks with all the fancy artwork. This is old-school, basic, but powerful, somehow.

Getting to Know the Cards

  • I laid them all out on the table, Major Arcana first, then the suits.
  • I picked up a few books, some of the most famous like Jodorowsky’s, and started reading about the meanings, but, man, it’s a lot to take in!
  • I’m mostly focusing on the Major Arcana for now. The Fool, The Magician, The High Priestess… they’re all so iconic.

Then, I tried a simple three-card spread – past, present, future. It was… interesting. I’m not sure I “got” it completely, but it definitely gave me something to think about. I wrote down the cards I drew and my initial thoughts in a notebook. It felt good to actually do something with the deck instead of just reading about it.

My next step is to keep practicing those simple spreads and really dig into the meanings of the individual cards. I also found some online groups where people discuss Marseille Tarot, so I might join those to get some different perspectives.

It is a slow start, but I felt that the connection with the deck is the key!
