Okay, so I’ve been messing around with Tarot cards lately, trying to get them in some kind of order that makes sense to me. It’s been a bit of a journey, so I figured I’d share what I’ve been up to.
Getting Started
First things first, I grabbed my deck. I’ve got this Rider-Waite deck that I’ve had for a while, so that’s what I used. I laid all the cards out on the table, face up, so I could see everything.
Major Arcana – The Big Guys
I decided to tackle the Major Arcana first. You know, the ones with the big names like “The Fool” and “The Lovers.” I figured they were the most important, so I pulled them out of the pile.
- I started with The Fool, obviously, since it’s number 0.
- Then I just went through them in numerical order, all the way up to The World (number 21).
- It felt pretty straightforward, just following the numbers.
Minor Arcana – Suits Me Just Fine
Next up were the Minor Arcana. These are the ones that are like playing cards, with four suits: Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. This part took a little longer.
- For each suit, I started with the Ace and went up to the 10.
- Then I added the court cards: Page, Knight, Queen, and King.
- I placed them in that order, after number 10. Because, why not.
- I did this for each of the four suits, so I ended up with four neat little piles.
Putting It All Together
Finally, I put my ordered piles, from Major Arcana to each of the Minor Arcana suits together. Now I have my ordered tarot deck!
So yeah, that’s how I organized my Tarot deck. It might not be the “right” way, but it works for me. It helps me get a better handle on the cards and what they might mean. Maybe it’ll help you too!
