Well, let me tell ya, these mythical goddess tarot cards, they’re somethin’ else, alright. You got all these pictures of fancy ladies, queens and such. They say this one, the Empress, she’s like the big mama of the world. Fancy that, a big mama in the cards. She’s all about makin’ things grow and bein’ fruitful. Like a good hen layin’ eggs, I guess.
Then there’s this other one, Queen of Pentacles. Pentacles, sounds like spectacles, don’t it? But it ain’t about seein’, it’s about money and stuff you can touch. This queen, she’s got it all figured out, knows how to make a dollar stretch. Wish I knew her secret! Maybe she could teach me a thing or two. My old man, he always said money don’t grow on trees, but maybe this queen knows a tree or somethin’.
Then you got the Queen of Wands. Wands, like a stick you poke the fire with? This one’s all fiery and full of get-up-and-go. She ain’t afraid to take charge and make things happen. Reminds me of my neighbor, Mrs. Henderson, always bossin’ everyone around. But she gets things done, gotta give her that.

- Queen of Wands – Gets things done, real bossy.
Now, they say these queens ain’t just ladies, they’re goddesses. What’s a goddess anyway? Like an angel or somethin’? Guess they’re powerful women, like those ladies in the soap operas my granddaughter watches. Always makin’ trouble and stirrin’ things up.
They talk about this Medusa too. Sounds like a mean one. Got snakes for hair, can you believe it? I hate snakes. They say she’s the dark side of somethin’, a shadow. Like when you stand in the sun and your shadow’s all long and spooky. Maybe she’s like that, all spooky and full of mischief.
But what’s all this got to do with tellin’ the future? That’s what cards are for, right? You shuffle ’em up and see what comes out. Like lookin’ in a teacup, seein’ what leaves are left. My aunt used to do that, read the leaves. Said she could see things. Maybe these cards are like that too.
They say each card means somethin’ different. Like, if you get the Empress, maybe you’re gonna have a baby or somethin’ good is gonna happen. If you get the Queen of Pentacles, maybe you’ll come into some money. Wouldn’t that be nice? And the Queen of Wands, maybe you’ll finally get around to cleanin’ out that garage like you been sayin’ you would.
I don’t know about all this magic and goddess stuff. Seems kinda far-fetched to me. But people believe all sorts of things, don’t they? Maybe there’s somethin’ to it. Maybe these cards really can tell you somethin’. Or maybe they’re just pretty pictures to look at.
One thing’s for sure, they get you thinkin’. About life, about what’s gonna happen. And maybe that’s the whole point. Maybe it ain’t about seein’ the future, but about thinkin’ about what you want and how you’re gonna get it. Like that Queen of Pentacles, plannin’ and savin’. Or the Queen of Wands, takin’ charge. Even that Medusa, she makes you think about the dark side of things, the parts you don’t wanna look at.
So, maybe I’ll give these cards another look. Maybe I’ll try to figure out what they mean. Who knows, maybe I’ll learn somethin’. Or maybe I’ll just end up more confused. But hey, it’s somethin’ to do, right? Somethin’ different.
