Need job advice? See how using employment tarot can answer your important career questions easily.

My Spin with Employment Tarot

Okay, so I gotta share this thing I tried a while back when I was hitting a wall with the job hunt. Felt like I was just spinning my wheels, you know? Sending out applications, getting maybe one or two calls back, nothing really clicking. It was dragging me down.

Someone, can’t remember who, maybe a friend, mentioned trying tarot cards specifically for career stuff. My first thought was, seriously? Like, magic cards are gonna find me a job? Seemed pretty out there. But I was feeling stuck, proper stuck. Figured, what the heck, couldn’t hurt more than another rejection email.

So, I dug out this old tarot deck I had lying around. Honestly, mostly just looked at the pictures before. This time, I actually looked up a simple spread online, something like situation, obstacle, advice. Just three cards. Didn’t want to get overwhelmed.

I sat down, shuffled the cards like they say you should, really trying to focus on my job situation, like asking, “What’s the deal here? What should I do?” Laid out the three cards.

Now, I’m no expert. Had to look up the meanings in the little booklet that came with the deck and piece it together. The cards I pulled, I remember the feeling more than the exact names… one felt like being stuck in my head, overthinking everything. Another seemed to point towards needing to take some kind of action, even a small one, instead of just waiting. The last one felt like… potential? But needing effort. It wasn’t some magic answer like “You’ll get a job at Company X next Tuesday.” It was more like a nudge.

The whole thing basically told me I was paralyzed by wanting the ‘perfect’ next step and that I needed to just do something practical. Anything, really. Stop dreaming, start doing.

There was this job opening I’d seen, wasn’t thrilled about it, kinda different from what I thought I wanted. Normally, I might have just skipped it. But after messing with the cards, I thought, “Okay, practical action.” So, I polished up my resume specifically for that role and sent it in. Forced myself to put actual effort into that one application instead of just shotgunning.

Long story short, I actually got an interview. Then another. And I ended up getting an offer. Took the job. It wasn’t the ‘dream job’ I had in my head, but it was solid. Paid the bills. And honestly? I learned a ton there. Stayed for a couple of years, built up skills I wouldn’t have otherwise.

  • Shuffled the deck thinking about my job mess.
  • Pulled three cards.
  • Looked up meanings, felt like a “get moving” message.
  • Applied seriously for a job I was previously ignoring.
  • Got the job, learned valuable stuff.

So, do I think the cards predicted my future? Nah, not really. But the process? It kinda forced me to stop and think about my situation differently. It was like holding up a weird mirror. Made me realize I was the one holding myself back by waiting for perfection. It just kickstarted me into action. Maybe that’s all it was, just a way to get my own brain unstuck. Weird, but yeah, that was my experience with the whole employment tarot thing.
