Okay, here’s my blog post about my 2024 New Year’s Tarot spread experience:
So, it’s that time of year again! Time to reflect on the past year and look ahead to the new one. I’ve been doing a New Year’s tarot spread for a few years now, and I always find it super helpful. It’s like a little roadmap, you know? This year, I decided to try a new spread I found, and I gotta say, it was pretty insightful.
Getting Started
First things first, I grabbed my favorite tarot deck. It’s an old Rider-Waite deck that I’ve had for ages, and it just feels right to me. Then, I lit some candles and put on some chill music. Gotta set the mood, right? I find it is very helpful to make my mood calm and peaceful. I also made myself a cup of herbal tea. All set!
The Spread
The spread I used had twelve cards, one for each month of the year. I like this because it gave me a more detailed picture.
- I shuffled the deck, really focusing on the year ahead, all my hopes, my fears, everything.
- Then I cut the deck into three piles and put them back together. Just a little ritual I do.
- Next, I laid out the cards, one by one, face down, in a circle.
- Starting with January, I flipped over each card and took a moment to just…look at it. What images popped out? What feelings did it give me?
My Card of Each Month
Here are my card of each month
- Jan:The Star.
- Feb:Eight of Swords.
- Mar:Two of Cups.
- Apr:King of Wands.
- May:Seven of Pentacles.
- June:The Sun.
- July:Five of Cups.
- Aug:Ten of Wands.
- Sept:Ace of Swords.
- Oct:Three of Pentacles.
- Nov:Page of Cups.
- Dec:Six of Wands.
Interpreting the Cards and Journaling
After I had all the cards laid out, I grabbed my journal. This is where the real work begins! I went through each card, month by month, and wrote down my initial thoughts. Some cards were obvious, like, “Okay, this means I need to focus on self-care this month.” Others were a little trickier, and I had to really sit with them for a while.
I also thought about how the cards related to each other. Were there any patterns? Any repeating themes? Like, maybe three cards showed a lot of cups, which could mean I’ll be dealing with a lot of emotions or relationships in those months. I jotted all of this down.
Wrapping Up
After I finished journaling, I felt like I had a much better sense of what 2024 might hold. It’s not about predicting the future, of course. It’s more about getting some clarity and setting intentions. I always feel way more grounded and ready for the new year after doing this spread.
I put my cards away, blew out the candles, and finished my tea. Now, I have a whole year’s worth of insights to ponder. Definitely recommend giving this a try if you’re looking for a little guidance for the new year!
