Six of Swords Tarot Explained Simply for You.

Okay, so yesterday I was messing around with my tarot cards, right? I’ve been trying to get better at reading them, not like a pro or anything, just for fun and maybe a little bit of personal guidance. Anyway, I decided to pull a single card for the day, see what kind of vibe it gave off.

So, I shuffled the deck, you know, the usual way. I like to really concentrate on the question I have in mind while I’m shuffling. Yesterday, it was something vague like, “What should I focus on today?”. I cut the deck, pulled the top card, and BAM! Six of Swords.

At first, I was like, “Okay…boats? Water?” I know the basic meanings, like moving on, transitions, leaving something behind. But I wanted to dig a little deeper, so I grabbed my notebook – I always keep notes when I do readings, helps me remember what I was thinking and feeling at the time.

I started by just looking at the card itself. The Rider-Waite version, which is what I use, shows a boat carrying people away from a shore. The water near the shore is choppy, but ahead it looks calmer. So, the immediate feeling was definitely about leaving a difficult situation. I thought about what’s been kinda rough lately, and honestly, there’s been a lot! Work’s been stressful, relationship stuff is always a rollercoaster, and my creative projects have been feeling stagnant.

Then I started thinking about the “swords” part. Swords are usually about intellect, decisions, communication, and sometimes conflict. So, six swords…six decisions? Six conflicts I need to resolve? It felt more like six burdens I’m carrying that are making the “choppy water” worse.

Here’s where the action started: I decided to actually do something about it instead of just thinking about it. The card was telling me to move on, but move on how? So, I grabbed a piece of paper and started brainstorming. I wrote down all the things that were stressing me out, those “six swords,” and then next to each one, I wrote down a small action I could take today to start moving away from that problem.

  • Work stress: I decided to block out an hour in my calendar to actually focus on one important task without any distractions.
  • Relationship drama: I decided to send a short, honest text to my partner about how I was feeling instead of letting it fester.
  • Creative block: I forced myself to spend just 15 minutes sketching something, anything, just to get the creative juices flowing.
  • Finances: I reviewed my budget for like 5 minutes, and made one small change.

It wasn’t about solving everything immediately. It was about taking that first step, getting in the boat, and starting to move towards calmer waters.

The result? It sounds cheesy, but it actually worked! That hour of focused work made a huge difference. The honest text cleared the air with my partner. The sketching was terrible, but it did get me thinking about new ideas. Even the budget review helped me feel like I was in control.

So yeah, the Six of Swords wasn’t just a random card. It was a kick in the butt to actually do something about the stuff that was bothering me. And it reminded me that even small actions can start moving you towards a better place.
