Tarot Art for Beginners: Tips for Making Tarot Art.

Alright, let me tell you about my little tarot art adventure. It was a spur-of-the-moment kinda thing, you know?

So, first things first, I grabbed my old tarot deck. It’s been sitting in a drawer for ages, gathering dust. I’m not like, a believer or anything, but I always liked the artwork. Plus, I was bored. Real bored.

Then, I decided I wanted to do something…artsy…with them. But what? I ain’t no Picasso. I started by just laying them out on my desk, trying to get some inspiration. They were all jumbled up, the Tower next to the Lovers, Justice face-down… chaotic, but that’s kinda the point, right?

Remembered I had some old canvas boards kicking around. Cheap ones, but hey, they’ll do. So I grabbed one, and that was the canvas for my madness.

Flipped through the deck again, this time looking for a card that spoke to me. The Queen of Wands. I liked her. All fiery and confident. So I pulled her out.

Now, I can’t draw for crap. So I wasn’t about to try and copy the card exactly. Instead, I looked at the colors, the symbols, the vibe. Fire, sunflowers, a black cat. Got it.

Dug out my acrylic paints – the cheap student grade stuff, again. Who cares? This is just for fun. Squeezed out some reds, yellows, oranges, black, and green onto my palette. No fancy techniques here. Just slapped some paint on the canvas. A big blob of orange for the fire, some yellow streaks for the sunflowers. Made the background black for contrast. It looked terrible, but I didn’t care.

Then, I started adding details. More fire, more sunflowers. Drew a super basic cat shape with black paint. It looked like a deformed potato, but whatever. I mixed some green and yellow and made this weird aura around the Queen of Wands. It looked like radioactive goo, but I was kinda digging it.

I let it dry for a few hours (while I watched some dumb TV, because priorities). When it was dry enough, I took a black marker and outlined some of the shapes. Gave the cat some pointy ears, added some details to the sunflowers. Still looked like crap, but slightly less crap.

Realized it was missing something. Sparkle! I found some glitter glue I had from a previous craft project and went to town. Glitter EVERYWHERE. On the fire, on the sunflowers, even on the cat. Because why not?

Finally, I stood back and looked at my masterpiece. It was a hot mess. But it was my hot mess. A crazy, glittery, radioactive Queen of Wands. It wasn’t perfect, but I had a blast making it. And honestly, that’s all that matters.

And that’s my tarot art story! Maybe you should try it sometime. Grab your deck, some paint, and just go wild. Don’t worry about being good. Just have fun with it!
