Tarot Cards Rider Waite Explained: Unlock the Secrets of Each Card.

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get into tarot cards for a while, and I finally decided to take the plunge. I went with the classic Rider-Waite deck, because it’s, like, the deck everyone recommends for beginners. Figured it’s a good place to start, you know?

Getting Started

First thing I did was order the deck online. It arrived pretty quickly, all nicely packaged. Opening it up, I felt a little… I don’t know… intimidated? It was like, “Whoa, this is real.” All these colorful cards with their strange symbols and pictures.

So, I cleared a space on my desk – had to shove aside a bunch of papers and pens. I laid out the cards, just kind of looking at them. The artwork is actually pretty cool, even if I didn’t understand it all yet. There’s this guy hanging upside down (The Hanged Man, I later learned), and a lady with a lion (Strength), and all these cups and swords and stuff.

First Shuffle and Spread

Next up, I needed to shuffle the cards. I’m not gonna lie, it was awkward. I’m used to regular playing cards, and these are way bigger! I fumbled around for a bit, dropping a few, but eventually got them all mixed up.

Then, I did a simple three-card spread. I think it was supposed to be for “past, present, future.” Honestly, I have NO idea how to do this, I should find someone teaching me how to do it.

  • I found good teaching video.
  • I tried few simple spread follow the video.
  • I can remember all the cards, which is hard.

Trying to Interpret…

I pull out the cards and took my time to watch it, read the little booklet that came with the deck, and also Googled a few things. It’s all very…symbolic. Like, the “past” card was The Chariot, which apparently means willpower and determination. Okay, I guess that kind of fits. The “present” card was the Two of Cups, which is about partnerships and connection. Makes sense, I’ve been focusing on my relationships lately. The “future” card was The Star… hope, inspiration, serenity. Fingers crossed!

My First Impressions

Honestly, the whole thing was a bit confusing, but also kind of fun. It felt like I was tapping into something…mysterious. I’m definitely not claiming to be a tarot expert or anything, but it was an interesting first experience.

My plan is to keep practicing, maybe do a daily card pull or something. And keep reading and learning about the different cards and spreads. I’ll let you guys know how it goes! Maybe I’ll even try to use the cards to “read” for someone, I have read some articles they said I need do this way, which will be scary, but I will try it!
