Okay, so, you know I’m always messing around with different stuff, right? Well, lately I’ve been super into tarot. Not like, seriously serious, but more like a fun, creative outlet. And, of course, I had to find a way to make it my own. That’s where Johnny Depp comes in.
It all started when I was browsing online and stumbled across some fan-made decks featuring celebrities. And I thought, “Hey, why not Johnny Depp? He’s got so many iconic roles, it would be perfect!” So, I started brainstorming.
First thing’s first, I needed images. I spent hours digging through Google Images, IMDb, any place I could find high-quality pictures of Depp in his various roles. Edward Scissorhands, Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka – the whole shebang. I made a huge folder on my computer.
Then came the tough part: figuring out which role fit which tarot card. I did some research on the traditional meanings of the Major Arcana, and then I tried to find a Depp character that embodied those qualities. Like, The Fool? Gotta be Jack Sparrow, right? The Magician? Maybe Sweeney Todd, crafting his deadly pies. It was a lot of trial and error.
I used Photoshop to crop and resize the images, and then added the card names and numbers. I wanted them to look kinda cool, you know? I played around with different fonts and layouts until I was happy with the design. I even added some little details, like relevant quotes from the movies.
After that, it was all about printing. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money, so I just used some thick cardstock I had lying around. I printed out all the cards, carefully cut them out, and then laminated them to make them a little more durable.
And that was it! My very own Johnny Depp tarot deck. I’ve been using them for fun readings with my friends, and it’s been a blast. It’s a silly project, I know, but it was a fun way to combine my love of tarot and Johnny Depp. Plus, it’s a total conversation starter!
Here’s a breakdown of some of the Major Arcana pairings I came up with:
- The Fool: Jack Sparrow (obviously!)
- The Magician: Sweeney Todd
- The High Priestess: Ichabod Crane (hear me out! He’s all about hidden knowledge and intuition in Sleepy Hollow)
- The Empress: Queen Anne (from Pirates, powerful and nurturing in her own way)
- The Emperor: Captain Salazar (ruthless, controlling, definitely an Emperor vibe)
- The Hierophant: Gellert Grindelwald (manipulating traditions for his own ends)
- The Lovers: Don Juan DeMarco (all about passion and connection)
- The Chariot: Raoul Duke (fear and loathing in Las Vegas – driven forward by intense energy, for better or worse)
- Strength: Edward Scissorhands (gentle power and inner resilience)
- The Hermit: William Blake (dedicating himself to his art, in solitude)
It was a really fun, creative project and I hope you all found this interesting and maybe even gave you some inspiration for your own crazy projects!
