Well, hello there, y’all! Let’s talk about somethin’ called medieval cat tarot. Don’t you go gettin’ all highfalutin on me, it ain’t as fancy as it sounds. It’s just cats, you know, the furry little critters, and some cards. And them cards, they supposed to tell ya somethin’. Like, will your crops grow good this year? Will that no-good rooster stop crowin’ before the sun’s even up? That kinda stuff.
Now, I ain’t no scholar, mind you. I just know what I see and what I hear. And I heard tell these cat tarot cards been around for a good long while. Back in them olden days, when folks didn’t have no fancy phones or telly-visions, they had to find ways to figure things out. So, they looked at the stars, they looked at the birds, and they looked at them cards.
And why cats, you ask? Well, cats are mysterious creatures, ain’t they? One minute they’re rubbin’ up against your leg, purrin’ like a motor, the next they’re starin’ off into space like they seein’ somethin’ you can’t. Maybe they do! Maybe they seein’ them spirits or them fortunes, who knows? It’s all a bit of a mystery, just like life itself.
- The Fool Card: This one’s got a cat on it, lookin’ all happy-go-lucky, about to step off a cliff. Reminds me of my nephew Billy, always jumpin’ into things without thinkin’. But sometimes, you gotta take a leap of faith, right?
- The Lovers Card: Two cats, cuddlin’ up close. Aw, ain’t that sweet? This one’s about love and partnerships, I reckon. Findin’ your soulmate, or maybe just gettin’ along with your neighbor for once.
- The Death Card: Now, don’t you go gettin’ all scared. Death ain’t always about dyin’. It’s about endings and beginnings. Like when the old rooster finally kicks the bucket and you get a new one that don’t crow so dang early.
I seen some folks sayin’ you can get these cards with pictures you can color yourself. Sounds like a good way to pass the time, I guess. Better than sittin’ around twiddlin’ your thumbs. And some folks, they say they can talk to your cat, get messages from ’em. Well, my cat, old Whiskers, he don’t talk much. Mostly just meows for food. But maybe he’s tellin’ me somethin’ in his own way.
Medieval cat tarot, it ain’t for everyone. Some folks think it’s just a bunch of hooey. But me? I think there’s somethin’ to it. Somethin’ magical, somethin’ ancient. It’s a way to connect to somethin’ bigger than ourselves, to that great mystery that surrounds us all. And if a little cat can help us do that, well, I say more power to ’em.
So, next time you see a cat, don’t just think of it as a furry little critter. Think of it as a messenger, a guide, a furry little fortune teller. And maybe, just maybe, it’ll tell you somethin’ you need to hear.
And remember, don’t take it all too serious. Life’s too short to be frettin’ over every little thing. Just do your best, be kind to folks, and maybe, just maybe, them cards will show you the way. Or maybe not. Either way, you still got a purrin’ cat on your lap, and that ain’t a bad thing at all.
I hear tell there are folks doin’ readin’s with these cards, tellin’ you what’s gonna happen. Sounds like a load of hogwash to some, but hey, if it makes you feel better, who am I to judge? Just don’t go bettin’ the farm on it, you hear? Life’s got a way of surprisin’ ya, no matter what them cards say.
Anyways, that’s my two cents on this medieval cat tarot business. Take it or leave it, it’s all the same to me. I’m just an old woman who likes cats and likes to think there’s a little bit of magic in the world. And if that makes me a fool, well, then I reckon I’m a happy fool.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed Whiskers. He’s startin’ to give me that look again.
