Understanding Deacon Tarot Cards: Ultimate Reading Guide

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get into tarot cards for a while, and I finally took the plunge. I decided to go with the “Deacon” tarot deck, mostly because I liked the artwork. It’s got this cool, minimalist vibe.

First thing I did was just, you know, look at the cards. I spread them all out on my table and went through each one. Some of the images were immediately understandable, others were totally mysterious. But that’s part of the fun, right?

Then, I got this little booklet that came with the deck. It explains the basic meanings of each card. I started trying to memorize a few, like, “The Fool” is about new beginnings, and “The Lovers” is about choices, not just romance.

I practiced by doing a simple three-card spread for myself. Past, present, future. It was…interesting. I can’t say it was super accurate, but it definitely gave me some things to think about. I wrote down my “reading” in a notebook, just so I could look back at it later.

My First Real Reading (For Myself)

  • Past: The Chariot (Upright). Booklet said this is about willpower and overcoming obstacles. Makes sense, I guess, I’ve had a busy couple of years.
  • Present: Five of Pentacles (Reversed). This one was a little harder to read, but I think it is about overcoming hardship in relationship.
  • Future: The Star (Upright). Okay, this one’s pretty positive. Hope, inspiration, all that good stuff. I’ll take it!

I’ve also been watching some YouTube videos about tarot spreads and different ways to interpret the cards. There’s so much information out there! It’s a little overwhelming, to be honest.

Next, I want to try doing a reading for a friend. I’m a little nervous, but I figure it’s the best way to learn. Plus, it’ll be fun to see if I can actually give them some useful insights.

My overall goal is to get comfortable enough with the cards that I can use them for a bit of self-reflection, maybe even some guidance when I’m feeling stuck. Not looking to predict the future or anything, just…another way to think about things.

It’s been a fun and slow process so far, and I’m excited to see where it goes!
