Ok, I’m ready. Here’s my blog post about my tarot card numbers practice.
## My Tarot Card Numbers Deep Dive
Alright, so I’ve been messing around with tarot for a while, mostly just pulling cards for fun and getting vague feelings. But I wanted to actually understand the deck, like, really understand it. So, I decided to focus on the numbers. Figured it was a good way to start seeing the patterns.
First thing I did, I grabbed my Rider-Waite-Smith deck. Gotta start with the basics, right? I laid out all the cards from the Minor Arcana, just the numbered ones, Ace through Ten, for each suit. That’s forty cards staring back at me. Looked a bit intimidating, I won’t lie.
Then, I started just… staring. I mean, really looking at each card. Trying to see what the number felt like in each suit. Like, the Two of Cups is all about partnership, right? But the Two of Swords felt blocked, like a decision needed to be made but you’re blindfolded. Same number, different vibe depending on the suit.
I kept a notebook handy.
- I wrote down keywords for each number.
- Then, I did it for each suit.
- Then, I tried to find connections, patterns.
For example, the number One (Aces) always seemed like new beginnings, pure potential. But the Ace of Wands felt like creative energy ready to burst, while the Ace of Pentacles felt like a solid foundation being laid.
The number Three I started seeing as growth, expansion. The Three of Cups is celebration, friendship. The Three of Swords is, well, heartbreak (ouch!). But even that heartbreak is a kind of growth, right? Learning what you don’t want.
Number Five was a tough one. Felt like conflict, challenges. But not always bad. The Five of Wands is competition, maybe even playful. The Five of Swords is definitely a bummer, though. Someone being sneaky and taking advantage.
The number Ten felt like completion, an end of a cycle. Ten of Cups is happy family, fulfilled emotions. Ten of Swords is… well, the end. But endings lead to new beginnings, right?
I spent like, a week just doing this.
After that, I tried something else. I started pulling a single number card each day, and just meditating on it. Trying to see how that number played out in my day. If I pulled a Four, was I feeling stable and secure? Or stuck and bored? If I pulled a Seven, was I reflecting and learning? Or feeling lost and uncertain?
It was actually pretty cool. It made me way more aware of the energies around me. And it helped me understand the cards in a much deeper way.
Finally, I started incorporating the Major Arcana numbers. Remembering that the Fool is technically zero, and then just seeing how the numbers lined up. Like, the Magician is number One, representing skill and action – makes sense with the Aces! The High Priestess is Two, representing intuition and secrets – connects with that Two of Swords feeling of needing to look within.
It’s still a work in progress, but I feel like I’m finally starting to speak the Tarot language!
Definitely recommend giving this a try if you’re looking to connect with your deck on a deeper level. It’s a lot of work, but totally worth it. Now, I’m off to pull a card for tomorrow! Wish me luck!
