Okay, so I’ve been seeing the number 18 popping up everywhere lately. On clocks, receipts, even license plates. It got me thinking, does this number have some hidden meaning? I’ve always been a little fascinated by biblical numerology, so I decided to dive in and see what I could find about the number 18 in the Bible.
My Deep Dive into Biblical Number 18
First, I grabbed my trusty Bible and a notebook. I started by just flipping through and looking for any obvious mentions of “eighteen.” I figured I’d start with the easy stuff. I jotted down any verses that used the number, even if it seemed insignificant at first. You never know, right?
I did find the following verse:
- Judges 3:14:It records that the Israelites were under Eglon’s oppression for 18 years.
- Judges 10:8: Records that the Israelites are oppressed for 18 years.
- Judges 20:25, The Benjamites, the second time they went out against the other Israelites, caused 18,000 more to die.
- 2Kings 23:36, Jehoiakim, King of Judah, reigns in Jerusalem.
- Luke 13:4, Jesus speaks about the tower in Siloam that fell and killed eighteen people.
- Luke 13:11, Jesus healed a woman on the Sabbath day who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years.
Then, because I needed to do a deeper research, I turned to the internet. I wasn’t looking for anything fancy, just some basic articles or blog posts about biblical numerology. I figured someone out there must have already done some research on this.
I found a lot which refer to the number 18 related to “bondage.”
I noticed a lot of repetition. Many different sources made a similar connection.
