Well, let me tell ya, this here Renaissance Tarot thing, it ain’t your grandma’s regular cards, though I reckon I’m a grandma myself, ha! It’s a whole different kettle of fish, they say.
I heard some folks callin’ it a “powerful tool,” for “self-reflection,” and “personal growth.” Sounds fancy, don’t it? Basically, it’s like lookin’ in a mirror, but instead of seein’ your wrinkles, you see, well, somethin’ else. Pictures and stuff.
- They say it helps you see things clear, like, you know, when you can’t find your glasses and everything’s a blur? This here Tarot, it’s supposed to clear up the blur in your life, help you make better choices. Not sure how pictures on cards can do that, but folks swear by it.
- And then there’s this “storytelling” part. Like them picture books my grandkid reads, only these pictures are all…symbolic, they say. Means they stand for somethin’ bigger, somethin’ deeper. Like a rooster ain’t just a rooster, it’s, I don’t know, a sign of a new day or somethin’.
Now, this ain’t no old-timey deck, like the ones they used way back when. This here’s a Tarot of the Renaissance, made by some fella named Giorgio Trevisan. He ain’t just copyin’ old cards; he’s makin’ ’em new, but with that old-timey feel. Renaissance, that’s what they called it. Fancy folks back then, paintin’ and makin’ statues and stuff.
I seen some pictures of these cards, and let me tell ya, they’re somethin’ else. Lots of colors, and people in fancy clothes. Not like the overalls I wear, that’s for sure. And them symbols, they’re everywhere. Stars, and moons, and people with wings. Makes your head spin, it does.
Giorgio Trevisan, he really captured somethin’ special, they say. The “spirit” of that Renaissance time. Lively, they call it. Guess that means folks back then weren’t just sittin’ around twiddlin’ their thumbs. They were busy makin’ art and thinkin’ big thoughts. And this Tarot deck, it’s supposed to remind us of that, I reckon.
They also got these “layouts” and “readings.” Sounds complicated, don’t it? But it’s just different ways of arrangin’ the cards, like settin’ the table for a big dinner. Each spot means somethin’, and when you put the cards down, they tell you a story. Or at least, that’s what they’re supposed to do. I ain’t tried it myself, mind you. Too busy feedin’ the chickens and such.
But from what I gather, it’s all about findin’ answers, you know? About figurin’ out what to do with your life, or what’s gonna happen next. Some folks use it for big decisions, like whether to marry that fella down the road, or whether to sell the farm. Others use it for little things, like whether to plant tomatoes this year or not.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ I believe in all this magic and whatnot. I’m a practical woman, I am. But I can see why folks find comfort in it. It’s like havin’ someone to talk to, even if that someone is just a bunch of pictures on cards. And sometimes, that’s all you need, you know? Just a little somethin’ to help you make sense of things.
This Renaissance Tarot, it ain’t just about tellin’ the future, they say. It’s about understandin’ the present. And about makin’ the future better, one card at a time. Or somethin’ like that. Like I said, it’s fancy talk, but maybe there’s somethin’ to it. Maybe them pictures can tell a story worth hearin’. Who knows?
Anyway, that’s my two cents on this here Renaissance Tarot. It’s pretty, it’s old-timey, and it’s supposed to help you figure things out. Maybe it does, maybe it don’t. But it sure is somethin’ to think about, ain’t it?
