Alright, so today I decided to do a 7-card tarot reading for myself. Just felt like I needed to sit down and get a sense of things, you know? Nothing too heavy, just a general check-in on where things are at.
First, I grabbed my usual deck. It’s the one I always use, feels comfortable. I went over to my little corner space, made sure it was clear. Gotta have a clean space to think clearly, that’s what I find anyway.
Then I started shuffling. I shuffled those cards for quite a while. Just kept mixing them up, trying to clear my head and focus on just needing some general insight. Not thinking about anything too specific. Once I felt like they were mixed enough, I cut the deck into three piles with my left hand, then stacked them back up in a different order. Just my usual routine.
Getting the Cards Laid Out
After the shuffle and cut, I dealt out seven cards. Pulled them right off the top. I laid them face down in a sort of curved line, like a shallow horseshoe shape. That’s a simple spread I like for quick readings.
- Card 1: That’s kinda the past influence.
- Card 2: This one is the present situation.
- Card 3: What might be coming up soon.
- Card 4: This is like, my own approach or attitude.
- Card 5: Outside stuff, people or environment.
- Card 6: What I’m maybe hoping for or scared of.
- Card 7: The final vibe, the likely direction things are headed.
Looking Through What Showed Up
Okay, then I turned them over, one by one. That’s always the interesting part, seeing what comes out. I took a moment with each card. The first card, the past one, yeah, that made sense with what’s been going on before now.
The second card, the present, it was a bit unexpected. Had to sit with that one for a minute. Sometimes the cards just point out something you weren’t really looking at directly. Card four, about my attitude, well, it wasn’t wrong! Maybe told me I was being a bit too rigid about something.
I didn’t just go by the book meanings. I looked at the images, how the cards sort of felt next to each other. Sometimes the position changes how you read it, right? Like, card five, the external stuff, really seemed to connect with card two, the present.
Card six, the hopes/fears one, definitely hit home. It brought up a feeling I was kind of pushing down. Seeing it there made it feel more real, less vague in my head.
And the last card, number seven, the outcome? It wasn’t anything dramatic. No big life change predicted or anything. More like a quiet suggestion. It felt grounded, like, ‘yep, if things keep going like this, this is probably where you’ll end up’.
So yeah, that was my session today. Just spending time with the cards, shuffling, laying them out, looking them over. It wasn’t about predicting the lottery numbers, more about getting a clearer picture of my own thoughts and the situation. It helped organize things in my head a bit. That’s the main thing I use them for, really. Just a tool to help reflect. And it worked okay today. Felt useful.
