Okay, so a friend of mine, let’s call her Sarah, was going through it with this guy. On-again, off-again, total rollercoaster. She was driving herself crazy wondering if he’d ever commit. So, naturally, she asked me to do a tarot reading for her. Specifically, she wanted to know: “Will he come back?”
I’m no professional, mind you, but I’ve dabbled in tarot for a while. It’s fun, and sometimes, surprisingly insightful. I told Sarah to take it with a grain of salt, but she was desperate for any kind of guidance.
Setting the Mood
First, I cleared my space. I lit some incense (lavender, because it’s calming), and put on some chill background music. I like to feel relaxed and focused before I start a reading. Then I shuffled my deck, really concentrating on Sarah’s question, visualizing her and this guy, their whole messy situation.
The Spread
I decided to go with a simple three-card spread. It’s straightforward and usually gives a good overview. Here’s what I laid out:
- Card 1: The Past. This represents the history of their relationship, the foundation they built (or didn’t).
- Card 2: The Present. This shows the current situation, where things stand right now.
- Card 3: The Potential Future. This is the big one – it indicates the likely outcome if things continue on their current path. It’s not set in stone, but it’s a strong indication.
The Reading (and the cards i pull out)
I flipped the cards one by one. Here’s the card and which position I pulled:
- Past: Five of Cups. Ouch, Major bummer, right? It signified all the dissapointment of the past, loss and regret. There had definitely been some heartbreak and unmet expectations.
- Present: The Lovers. that’s a sigh of relief! Represented their connection. Maybe some difficult choices.
- Potential Future:Ten of Cups, reversed, A major halt. Lack of alignment.
My Interpretation (what dose all of this means)
I explained to Sarah that the Five of Cups in the past made total sense – they’d had a lot of ups and downs. The Lovers in the present showed that there was still a strong connection, but also that a decision needed to be made. One or both of them were at a crossroads.
The reversed Ten of Cups in the future position… well, that wasn’t so great. It suggested that if things continued as they were, a happy, fulfilling long-term relationship wasn’t likely. There might be emotional distance, unfulfilled promises, and a general lack of harmony. It’s kind of a dream unfulfilled.
What I Told Sarah
I made sure to emphasize that the future card wasn’t a guarantee. It was a potential outcome based on the current energy. I told her that the cards were suggesting she needed to take a good, hard look at the relationship and figure out what she really wanted. Was she willing to keep riding the rollercoaster, hoping for a different outcome? Or was it time to step off and find a smoother ride?
She was pretty bummed, understandably. But I think it also gave her a sense of clarity. Sometimes, just seeing things laid out like that can be really helpful, even if it’s not the answer you were hoping for. We talked for a long time after that, and she decided to have a serious conversation with the guy. I don’t know what happened after that, but I hope she found some peace, whatever she decided.
