Aquarian Tarot Deck Review: Why is it so popular?

So, I got this Aquarian Tarot deck the other day. I’ve always been kinda curious about tarot, you know? It’s like, sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it doesn’t. But it’s always a bit of fun, kinda like looking at clouds and guessing what shapes they are.

This deck, it’s called the Aquarian Tarot. Now, I heard some folks say it’s a bit of an acquired taste. I guess I can see that. The pictures, they’re a little different. This guy, David Palladini, he’s the one who drew all the cards. I read somewhere that this deck is good for beginners, something about all the symbols and stuff making it easier to learn. I don’t know about all that, but I figured I’d give it a go.

Getting Started

  • First, I opened the box and just looked at the cards one by one.
  • Then I tried to shuffle them, which was a bit clumsy at first. I’m still not very good at it, to be honest.
  • I found a simple three-card spread online—you know, past, present, future—and laid out the cards.

The Star card showed up, which I learned is connected to Aquarius. It’s got this picture of a woman pouring water. Apparently, it’s all about balance and hope and stuff. I’m not sure I got all of that from just looking at it, but it’s interesting. Reminds me of the Rider-Waite deck, but with a different vibe. You know, that Rider-Waite, illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith and thought up by A. E. Waite. Those cards, with their Golden Dawn roots, are pretty classic. This Aquarian deck feels a bit more… modern, I guess?

My First Reading

Honestly, I didn’t really know what I was doing. I just picked three cards and tried to think about what they might mean. I looked up some meanings online, but mostly I just went with my gut feeling. It’s kinda like choosing a partner, isn’t it? Only you really know what feels right deep down. I mean, there are no real rules, I guess.

It was a bit weird, but kinda cool at the same time. I wouldn’t say I had any big revelations or anything, but it was fun to think about the cards and what they might be saying. I think I’ll keep practicing, see if I can get better at it. Maybe one day I’ll even be able to do readings for other people. Who knows? Anyway, that’s my little adventure with the Aquarian Tarot deck so far.
