Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get into Celtic tarots for a while now. I’ve always been drawn to the imagery and the history, and I figured, why not give it a shot? So today, I finally dove in.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed a deck. I spent a good hour or so browsing online, looking at different Celtic-themed decks. I wanted one that really resonated with me, you know? It’s a pretty personal thing. Ended up going with one that had really vibrant artwork, lots of greens and golds, and felt kinda mystical.
Once the deck arrived (thank you, speedy delivery!), I cleared a space on my table. I’ve heard it’s good to have a dedicated area for readings, even if it’s just a corner of your desk. I lit a candle – just a plain white one, nothing fancy – and put on some quiet, ambient music. Just to set the mood, really.
First Shuffle and Spread
Next, I shuffled the cards. I wasn’t sure exactly how to shuffle tarot cards, so I just did what felt natural. I mixed them up, cut the deck a few times, and fanned them out. I focused on a simple question: “What energy should I focus on today?” Nothing too heavy, just a little guidance.
I picked three cards and laid them out in a simple past-present-future spread. I’ve seen this spread used a lot, so it seemed like a good starting point. There are tons of other spreads, but baby steps, right?
Interpreting the Cards
- Past: The first card was The Chariot, but it was reversed. My little guidebook thingy said this could mean feeling a lack of direction or control. Kinda resonated with me, considering some recent work stuff.
- Present: The second card, the present, was The Star. This one felt way more positive! Hope, inspiration, renewal… all good things. Felt like a nice counterpoint to the first card.
- Future: Finally, the future card was the Ace of Pentacles. New beginnings, prosperity, opportunity… Sounds promising!
Honestly, interpreting the cards was the trickiest part. The guidebook helped, but it’s also about intuition, I think. Trying to see how the cards relate to each other, and to my question. I jotted down some notes in my journal – just my initial thoughts and feelings about each card, and how they might connect to my life.
Wrapping Up
After I finished the reading, I thanked the cards (sounds weird, but it felt right!), blew out the candle, and put everything away. Overall, it was a pretty cool experience. It didn’t magically solve all my problems, but it gave me some things to think about. It felt like a good way to tap into my intuition and get a different perspective on things. I’ll definitely be trying this again, maybe exploring some different spreads next time.
